I'm sure it's here somewhere, I've tried searching for it, but I suck at finding things.

Anyone know where I can find the guide that describes how to take apart the center console and dashboard? I want to install a new Head unit and a reed switched immobilizer in my 03 baja NA.

First you pop off the plastic around the gear shifter.
Unscrew 2 screws under ash tray then the visable screws.
Remove rest of the plastic
Remove 2 screws on each side of the head unit.
Remove head unit and detach cords

check with some one else before starting

The first time I took mine apart, I just referred to an 00-04 Legacy write up. Close enough that it worked just fine.

God you know I hate those SOB ash tray screws. I had to take my head unit out tonight (fixed a seized motor - woohoo!) and when I put it all together I just left them out. You can hardly notice that it's not 'secured' up in there.

I know I'm chiming in here kinda late, but when you are pulling out you head unit be especially careful to not scratch the surface. The paint (or whatever) is very soft and its easy to nick it up good.

Just wanted to thank everyone again, and concur with "The Distance"... Yeah that paint IS easy to scratch... Oh well.

New headunit rocks though. The AUX port is nice and handy. Now on long trips my wife or I (whoever is passenger) can plug our laptops into the aux port and watch movies with bitch'n sound! :popcorn:

The only hard part are the two inverted phillips screws that go up above the ash tray. The one on the left is very awkward to get at and turn as it was extremely tight.

I think I used a phillips bit sitting in a 1/4" socket on a 1/4" ratchet for those.. PITA indeed!
