2004 forester xt grounded the alternator to the intake manifold have check all fuses in car and under hood everything seems to be ok couldnt find any blown. i am getting a door bing and thats it i have no cluster or any lights. is there a main breaker or fuse to protect the ecu in case this ever happen? thanks

could be a lot of things. if you already checked all the fuses, the first place i would check is the master control relay. its brown, has 6 pins and should be under the passenger side kick panel. if you dont have a factory service manual, get one now. it will make life much easier. you can get them on ebay in cd rom form for about $20.

in the main fuse box there is one fuse that is square and held in by two bolts. this is the main fuse. It may look ok but if you remove it you will probably find it blown.

I agree. The main fuse has been blown. The best way to check the fuses is to use a test light probe and verify power is getting to both sides of the fuse. Just looking at them has caused a number of people to go back and find out there really is a blown fuse.
