Hey sorry for this post, i looked as hard as i could to try and find a post about this. so i will explain myself as best i can. this is for a prosport premium electric boost gauge. the install is on a 2004 WRX

electric install:

(red)12v source = Ignition
(black)ground = clock grounding
(green) from gauge to (white) on sensor
(white) from gauge to light source for clock
(orange) left unconnected to have white for day white at night

this all works it lights up does the opening ceremony but it wont recognize boost at all.

so i took the hose from the stock boost gauge(which is a mechanical boost gauge) attached the air filter and ran extra hose to the sensor.

after all of this it doesn't recognize any boost at all. can anyone help me please.

here are some images to better help explain this.

(below is the hose from the old mech gauge to the sensor for the new gauge)

how does it work without that filter? also can you squeeze the hose and feel pressure

remove the filter and see if it works.

When you say "doesn't recognize any boost at all" - does the needle still move for vacuum when the car starts?

What does that gauge sit at when it's off? At idle you should be just over 20inHg (17-20inHg). Ditch that filter and make sure there aren't any kinks in the hose.

it moves for the opening ceremony but then after that it just goes to -30 and doesnt budge.

i will check for kinks in the hose and will be trying something new without the filter

Sounds like it is not getting a reading from the sensor

If the hose is the problem, the gauge will sit at 0 not in vaccum. I think the problem is that the sender is defective or not connected. With my Greddy gauge, if you disconnect the sender, the gauge will swing to full vaccum.

update?

okay so after trying everything possible, i am pretty sure that the sender is defective, i ran a brand new hose to my BPV and then through the firewall and to my old mech gauge, worked fine. so then i took the hose and ran it to the sender to my new electric gauge, no reading. so time to get a new sender.

anyone know about the sender unit at all, is there a fuse in the little box, that maybe i blew it? cause now i have to either take a trip to VA.......again, or send it first class mail to prosport(even though i dont have a job) haha oh it keeps getting better:diaf:

That so called air filter could be a 1 way valve did you try it with out that in place??

It wouldn't matter. If it is a check valve, you will get zero and boost, or zero and vaccum, not just pegged at 30in of vac.

yeah i tried everything, without the filter thing, still nothing, now i am trying to figure out a way .... if there is one to repair the sensor myself, instead of having to ship it or drive and replace it. anyone know if there is like a fuse or something in the sensor box..... anyone ever take it apart to see the guts of it? its either ship the sensor first class mail to prosport, or drive back down to Mach V motorsport and get a new one, i am hoping that there is a way to fix it so i dont have to do any of them.
