I just got some HID fogs and they are 3000K, which is supposedly a bright yellow, but they are kinda lime green colored. Is this normal? Do they always start out with a greenish tint each time i turn on the lights?

all HIDs start up a greenish color until they are warmed up. do they stay greenish, or d they shift to yellow after about 2 mins?

just curious, did you see what happened to another guy that put HID's in his fog lights?

Yes I have, sounds like he wired them up wrong or had some faulty components.

Yes I have, sounds like the bulbs in his cheap ghetto hid kit caught on fire.

I thought 2700K is pure yellow... and the higher you go the more blueish it gets so it wouldn't surprise me that 3000K is greenish. You got the wrong burn temp homie. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

There is no such thing as an HID kit for fog lights. Throwing HID bulbs into halogen fog light housings will actually reduce visibility by concentrating too much light right in front of your car making it harder to see down the road. It also causes a lot of glare for other drivers because of the improper optics of HID bulbs being thrown into halogen housings. Upgraded halogen bulbs and wiring harnesses can benefit your fog lights as well. They also make yellow coated halogen bulbs designed to work well in your stock fog light housings.

Plus you need to consider the reflective glare off the road. Fog lights are supposed to be used in bad weather. That means the road is usually wet. Foreground light coming from fog lights is at the perfect angle to reflect off a wet road surface right into the eyes of oncoming drivers. So when you install fog light bulbs that are 3 times brighter than your stock ones you get 3 times the reflective glare. So other people on the road can't see very well, and neither can you. All that added foreground light dilates your pupils and lessens your distance vision. There is a reason no cars come with HID fog lights from the factory. If it was better don't you think car companies would have put it on cars stock.
