I know this question was asked the other day but now i can't find the damn thread. Here the question, when i was protuned i had the rear 02 sensor code disabled because i went catless. My question is can i take out the oxygen sensor and tape up the wire leading to it so it doesnt hang and install my wideband sensor in its place to run to my gauge. and would there be any ill effects.
I'm no expert on the subject, but it is my understanding that the o2 sensor is still used. The only difference is the cel will not come on as a result of its readings. When I installed my wideband, I just had a bung welded into my down pipe. If you go that route, make sure you don't have it installed too close to the turbo, as the heat can reduce the life of the sensor.

it would be best to have a bung welded in closer to the turbo. in the rear position its hit or miss as far as accuracy. my closed loop fueling is a lot more stable with the wideband 7" off the turbo instead of in the rear position.
