Does anyone know if the Random tech cat on COBB's site (2.5RS section) fits on N/A impreza RSs of all model years?

COBBs closed on the weekends, I can't get a human on the phone.

What year do you have? Then maybe someone with the same year can tell you if it works for you. BTW it fits my 2001.

I know PPTough has this on his car. He also has stromung dualy+midpipe and borla headers.

I've got a 2002 RS.

I don't know if the flanges are oriented the same way as the pre-02.

Fits MY00 also.;)

Has anyone noticed any gains using the cat, I was thinking about getting one. I have Borla headers and Apex N1 exahust.

I have a '00 RS. If you REALLY want to feel a difference in engine breathing, you HAVE to go with bigger piping and high-flow cats. Having one or the other won't give you as much as you might want. i.e. the car will feel different with different mods. I have a Cold air intake, BORLA headers, 2.5" cat-back and Random High-flow (from COBB), and street cams from COBB. I pulled 14.8s on the track (bad shifting below 5.5k rpms) and I can get 14.7s no prob. Of course, the air that is taken in, doesn't have the correct mixture. Heads are next on the mods list, which will flow air in and out of the engine more efficiently. There was no CE light with the BORLA headers, but when I installed the high-flow cats i got a slow response front O2 sensor CE light. This can be fixed with header-wrap, wrapped all the way to the end of the cat piping. That prevents from bleeding hot air out of the pipes before the cat, thus the slow response on the O2 sensor. Those cats are very good to have, and EXCELLENT with the above combo I described. Most N/A 4 cyl cars were pulling anything OVER 15.5s on the track :eek: including Sis and Integra Vtechs.
I would recommend the high-flow cats or other engine/exhaust performers that COBB is selling.

Sounds like a must do. I would imagine you would even be able to get lower then 14.7. I just ran a 15.03 on sunday with borla headers, apex exhaust, UR pulley, ProECM chip and ganzaflow. I backed it up with a 15.1 but with a poor launch. I have the cobb intake on order and hopefully by the end of the month I will have the money for the cats.

i have a random tech cat installed on my 98 rs and don't have a problem so far in 5 days of having it on. and not a single cel (knock on wood)

and yes it does make a big difference too but i have borla headers, random tech cat and 5ziegen cat back on it also all 2.25" piping

I have the random tech cat installed in my 95 L coupe and it works fine for me I have no problems with it

The other day while changing my oil I noticed that one side of the cat's heat shield had come off. I took it to the local Midas and they tacked it back on for me. Just something to check I guess. From what I understand this is not uncommon

no it's not because my heat shield came complety off and I had to mine back on
