You guys missed a great event! Not the best weather, it was pretty chilly and took a while to get some heat in the tires.

I have to admit, the Dixie guys really do know how to put on a very laid back event. We even ran the formula jr kart (he was like 7, maybe younger) with only 3 course workers

8 runs, 30min lunch break, done by 4pm. Can't ask for much more with starting at 10:30-ish...

Cool trophies too! :)

There were at least 10-15 people there today using this as a warm-up event for the tour. Local Dixie folks get double points for attending the tour.

Pretty nice run Phil! I am surprised you squeezed by that last cone. Are you getting used to the tires? How did your times compared to other classes? I hope you run at Whitehouse next weekend.

I'll have to wait for results, but my times were not as fast as they should have been. BS was something like a 54.xxx and CS was a 53.xxx.

yeah, it seemed like I hit that last cone before the finish (it's actually 2) but it was scored clean...

I'm getting more and more used to the tires but I'm still not at 100% yet.

Who are the top drivers in BS and CS that were there yesterday? If Disimo was in his CS miata or Ruggles was in his BS 350Z, then your 52.6 may not have been too shabby.

Dat Nguyen was in CS. Unsure who was even running in BS, wasn't paying attention to their times. All I know is that I was slow, very much so.

I ran a 53.7xx...some national level ST guys were 52/53 ish also..there were alot of tour guys there practicing....I would say at least 20 of the participants...are going to the tour next month...I will put my video up tonight...I had a PS issue on the wifes car and stayed up to fix it...(leaky low side hose)...I am sooo glad I have diffs done in my car....it made a huge difference on corner exit for me...I was able to stay in the gas as much as I dared.......
(Oh and Phil...3 secs at Axis and allies not 2 but cones were the issue.. )

I doubt that Ruggles was there, but who knows. If DiSimo was there, he would have been in an EP Civic, so not a good comparison. CS needed to run ~53.2 to PAX better than you Phil and BS would need around the same, but I am sure you have done the math. DAT is a competent driver in CS, and pretty capable of quick times. I would have expected David Marcus to be ahead of him, but maybe he wasn't there.

Well...I tried to get back to the gas quicker...but the car didn't want to take it..it wanted to push out...even as early as I was turning...it still wanted to go outside...the diffs made the difference on when I could get on the gas...I set it up to have a bit of push...I might adjust that out to step the rear out come tour time...:)

Very nice run, Bill!

Thank you sir...I truly accept that as a true complement..:)

Any results for the event yet? How did you guys PAX overall?

not yet...But Rick Cone Paxed out first...the Matt Glagola right behind him...there was a BSP S2000 that was up there...Phil, Myself, a FS Shelby, a CS Miata and BS RX8...so I am pretty confident that I was top 10...raw and pax...we'll see..

Don't be Sipe and tune your way out of a competitive car! :p The Tour may be too soon to make any significant changes to your diffs.
there was a BSP S2000 that was up there...Was it a yellow S2000 with black fenders? If so, then that should be John Ward's car. He had a thread on sccaforums detailing his struggles leading up to Nats last year. Hope he does well at the Tour and gets some redemption.

That's him. I worked the corner with him and he told me all about that. Talk about a rough time! Sounds like he's got everything worked out now though. He started to get dialed in pretty good towards the end of our runs, as all of us did. Temperatures aided it as well.

Hey guys! Yea, i'm on the site here.. gotta keep up on what all of my NASIOC friends are up to.. haha! I actually signed up the username not too long ago to get rid of some ads and stuff... Long time lurker, first time posting :)

Chiketkd: Thanks! I'm hoping that the car does well out there as well... it seemed to perform just fine other than it being cooooold out. My tire temps going to the line for my first run were about 56 degrees... and thats on the tire that was getting sunlight.. lol!

Unfortunately i did not get any video... i sold my video camera a while back with the intention of getting another setup that had an external mic... and i just haven't done it yet :(

digitalseance: It was great working the corner with you! Time fly's when you're around good people ;) You definitely had that car of yours HAULING! I really wish i could get my car to launch like that... haha! Yea, the car is finally seeming like it is going to play along... as of right now my only issues have been related to the throttle body... so far, the butterfly shaft has broken on it twice... i have a spare shaft, but still if it goes out while racing, it'll be a handful trying to get the shaft replaced in time for my next run.

I was progressively pushing the car harder and harder throughout the day since i was trying to feel out the suspension... and the cold temps didn't help pushing the car hard either... I'm really bummed about hitting a couple of cones though... My best run of the day got coned out, and whats worse, it was a cone that actually cost me time to go out of my way to hit.. :( ... i think that run was a 50.2 or something, which i think may have gotten me really close to overall PAX.. i forgot to go up and write down all of my times before they packed the trailer up, so i haven't been able to do the math yet... and then on the last run, the tires were giving up the ghost too much, and the car felt like sliding more than sticking... they were just too hot and too old... But it did make for an entertaining lap though.. and that happened to be my fastest clean time of the day iirc, at a 51.5 or so. At least now i know how my car will react on that track surface, and i was able to finally see first-hand how that access road bump will feel in my car... i think it was taking it really well.

I just wish they would go ahead and post the results already so that i can look at all the numbers...

If anyone cares to read about the 'struggle' that was this car leading up to the 2008 Nationals, go to http://www.johnwardracing.com/s2000/index.html ;)

Welcome to Nasioc John! My brother and I met you before State Championships. He was the guy in the 350z in the STU2 class with you guys. I was by myself in STU :sadbanana:

I am glad the car is working for you. Good luck at Dixie! Should see you there.

Chike: Definitely hunt me down at the NT... Maybe i'll come over and hang out with you guys some... It was rumored that you guys are planning on having quite a setup in the pits... haha! As long as you don't mind a *gasp*Honda*gasp* hanging out with ya ;)

Bill: Great meeting you as well! Sorry you sold your BSP car... everytime i can, i try to talk people into building for this class :) I think it is about due for a resurgence... all of us "non-rallycars" need to band together and realize that y'all aren't THAT unbeatable... haha! I still deep down think that the S2k in particular is fast enough... and the 350z is no slouch either. Both Peter and Brian were running very well at Nats in one... And i never really got the chance to try at Nationals, so who knows how the S could have done...

For all those reasons, i'm really looking forward to the Dixie NT. I think BSP is going to be a VERY tough class with the line-up that we have... its going to be a BLAST for everyone to watch, let alone race in :)

inmledoml23: Ah, yea, i remember you and your brother! That was one race that i REALLY wished i had my own car for... lol! borrowing cars can be fun, but sometimes frustrating when they are stock and on skinny tires :) Great weekend though. Your brother waxed me by almost a second that weekend... :( But i still got second place, so i'm happy for that ;)

Will Michael be there? What class is he planning on running if he is?

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

ComposiMo, Michael will not be there, because he doesn't really have a class to compete in without going to r-comps. He is bummed too, because he is driving very well nowadays after a school a couple of months ago. He also wished that you could have had your own car at State, but he knows that might have meant him losing to you. I am excited about Dixie, as I decided last month to better prepare my car for STU. I am trying to get everything dialed in right now, but when it all comes down to it, we all just need to drive our best.

They are notorios for taking forever. Axis vs Allies took till Thursday after the event and the only reason why it went up was b/c so many out-of-towners kept emailing them asking about them.

John,

Great to see you on here and signed up for the Tour! I am glad the S finally decided to play along with your dastardly plans to take over the world, BSP-wise. I believe that car will be a force to reckon with once sorted!

If you remember, just before Nationals, it was you and I competing for the co-drive spot in Peter's 350Z. But since you believed at the time that you would have the S2000 ready for Topeka (Almost were correct!), I ended up in the spot. I remember pulling up and meeting Peter, admiring the car, and Peter saying "oh, by the way, it's for sale!" Ooooooohhhhh sheeeeeittt...

So, in essence, I blame YOU for making me $17,000 poorer and costing me one ass-callousing, deafening cross country drive in a BSP car stuffed to the gills with parts (Peter lives in Seattle, and I am in eastern Tennessee)!

Seriously, I look forward to competing with you this season. I agree that BSP is due for a resurgence, and 7 entrants at Dixie is a good start! Let's take down those bastich AWD cars! (ha ha ha... ok, so we're on Nasioc talking **** about STi's... it's ok, guys, just kidding... please put down those weapons.... LOL)

Let's go racing!

inmledonl23: Aw, that sucks... he should co-drive your car ;) hehe... Yea, thats a common problem down here for the 2-dr sports cars... which is the reason for the whole STU2 class creation. I think its a great idea, and if it were a nationally recognized class, i'd probably enjoy running in it... but i also like BSP as well... i'm a sucker for great competition

Chike: Awesome! I'll definitely drop on by and hang out ;)

digital: Yea, a couple of times our local region has been over a week to post results... i hadte to email and complain, but i mean, how hard is it to export to an xls and create an html page... takes about 5 minutes... but since i'm not the one doing it, and i'm not volunteering to do it, then i can't really complain, eh? lol! I'm just itching to do some time comparo's and cry over cone-hits... lol!

Fastech: Hey Brian! Yea, i remember you! Sorry i caused you to have to buy that gorgeous car... haha! Yea, i was ALMOST there with the S... if it hadn't been for that computer, the car would have been fine... but then again, i still had never driven in before then, other than almost stock and on street tires... so i still doubt i would have done any good :sadbanana: But anyway, yea, i am definitely looking forward to some fun battles with you and everyone else in BSP this year. I'd like to show that the RWD's aren't totally out of it, and that people are just needlessly giving up just because they "think" that a RWD can't hang... no ones taken the time to show that its still anyones game... but we'll show em, eh? ;)

Scooby: Thanks for emailing them.. i was about to myself.. at least they're trying to get them up soon :)

Believe me, he has mentioned codriving my car quite a few times. I have let him codrive with me for more than 24 runs, and 15 of those were on >1 mile course. But he has a car that is only missing tires to have a class. Trust me, when he has ran r-comps on other cars, he is fast. So my reasons aren't perfect, but I am sure he will call me when he reads your suggestion to codrive my car.
