I am having trouble figuring out if I will qualify for STU, Street Prepared, or Street modified. I will be driving my daily drivin 2007 Subaru STi.

Performance Modifications:

-Turbo back exhaust with high flow cat

-Ported and Polished exh manifold

-Cold air intake

-aftermarket boost control solenoid

-larger top mount intercooler

-larger fuel injectors and higher capacity fuel pump

-obviously tuned



Suspension Modifications:

-Right now just stiffer aftermarket springs

-Hopefully swaybars before the season starts

-Larger wheels

-tires to be determined depending on what class I qualify for (either 245 or 255 width)

-DBA 4000 slotted rotors with hawk hps pads

STu is a 235 width tyre iirc. i think teh PnP is SM, but someone else will give more definitive answer.

Max tire size is 245 in STU for awd cars (note: tires must have a treadwear of 140 or higher).

Looking at these mods, you're in BSP (B Street Prepared). You can remove the cat and go catless and still be legal for the class if you wanted.

You are also alloed unlimited boost in BSP.

Anyone of those modifications disqualify you for a Street Touring classification (i.e. STX, STU)

Street Mod or BSP due to the tune if you are running higher than stock boost.

I believe boost changes in SP can only be handled at the ECU level, so the boost controller would knock you into SM

Even though I have a boost control solenoid by boost is still handled by my ECU. It is not a Boost controller, it is actually just an upgraded solenoid that makes the car easier to tune.

This is from the 09 scca rulebook regarding your boost control solenoid in BSP:

f) Boost regulation systems, either electronic or mechanical,
and electronic fuel cuts referencing boost pressure may be
altered or modified except as prohibited herein. Boost
pressure changes resulting from authorized changes are
permitted.

As elirentz pointed out above, mechanical boost changes are allowed in SP. To the OP, you're definitely legal for BSP. Have fun autocrossing!

Thank you guys. My challenge now is going to be how to find a Cheap tire that is going to perform well (budget is streched to the limit as it is).
