Draken 02-27-2009, 01:03 AM or STX, based on the location of the cat
tuskenraider 02-27-2009, 01:09 AM or STX, based on the location of the catMy assumption is the OP's car doesn't retain the original factory emissions equipment or throws a CEL since most new guys aren't aware of the craptastic STX exhaust rules. So OP, all the orginal sensors in place? Any CEL's(hidden or not)?
My assumption is the OP's car doesn't retain the original factory emissions equipment STX doens't require OEM cats, just that it doesn't throw a code, or have the code subverted/shut off through the ECU programming.

Which it probably does because that's the common way to do it.
Wouldn't it be great if the SCCA had a "category that provides a natural competition outlet for auto enthusiasts using affordable sports sedans equipped with common suspension, engine, and appearance modifications which are fully legal and compatible with street use anywhere in the country."
Oh wait....

Oh wait....Bolded the 'catch22'.

--kCRight, as well as having all the sensors present and functional. No resistor in the UP sensor, etc. With all the Russian roulette that's been played with various DP's and cat configs, it's highly likely that a person unfamiliar with the SCCA rules may have a configuration that isn't legal. Again, just speculation until the OP confirms his setup.
elirentz 02-27-2009, 02:06 PM So you aren't allowed to turn off a cel in stx but you are allowed to adjust timing and fueling?
So you aren't allowed to turn off a cel in stx but you are allowed to adjust timing and fueling?
That is correct. CELs are emissions related and "it's all about emissions".

jkcrewsn 02-27-2009, 02:29 PM I don't see any engine management mods on his list (why you wouldn't with his mods I don't know). So I doubt he is covering any CEL's, but I guess the question still stands as to whether he is showing one. The catted downpipe should take care of his cat compliance to the stx rules.
See Rule 14.10 (e).
scca.com has a free Adobe download of the 2009 Solo rules.
If he isn't running any EM mods then there is no reason he can't run in stx (providing his mod list is complete).
Again, just speculation until the OP confirms his setup.
i'd like to know what class i'd be in for scca as well.

Depends on if you did anything to the bumper beam to fit the FMIC.

thereplacement 03-05-2009, 05:10 PM yep STX not ESP on the original post, I have the same downpipe, catless uppipe, and no CEL thrown yet (and I'll run a defouler on the O2 if I ever do).

If you cut the bumper then SM. If you've removed it entirely then FP.
:)

Hmm...catless uppipe in STX?? Why do I think that's not legal?

Because *you* haven't read the rules?
digitalseance 03-05-2009, 07:26 PM I thought all cats were required in ST*?
I play in ESP so I don't always pay attention to the class below me. :)

STX only requires '1' cat....guess you didn't get involved with all the hoopla year before last and last year huh..;)..
someone could run a ridiculous car in FP.....I would love to build a FP or XP car with a Subaru...but my fundage don't allow that...
