All the way! I'm currently building up an FN FAL. Should look something like the rifle in the link below when I'm done. Nice toys btw, I like the SIGs the best. A friend has a 556, the Swiss make some really nice firearms.

I have a HK P2000 .40 w/LEM
http://www.oneshotonline.com/store/images/P2000SK.jpg

Hoping to add a few assault rifles to it soon and if HK ever comes out with a 1911, that has been a rumor forever.
Once HK releases the MR762 I'm so getting it. The MR762 is 7.62 x 51mm.

MR762 RIFLE
Like its 5.56 mm counterpart, the MR762 is a direct descendent of the HK416/417 series, only in a semi-automatic rifle configuration developed for civilian users.
Using the HK-proprietary operating system, the MR762 is gas operated and uses a piston and a solid operating “pusher” rod in place of the common gas tube normally employed in AR15/M16/M4-style weapons. Pioneered by Heckler & Koch in the G36, HK416, and HK417; this method virtually eliminates malfunctions common to direct impingement gas systems since hot carbon fouling and waste gases do not enter the receiver area. The MR762 stays cleaner and heat transfer to the bolt and bolt carrier, and wear and tear on critical components is drastically reduced. The service life of all parts is increased substantially.
The MR762 uses a barrel produced by Heckler & Koch's famous cold hammer forging process. This manufacturing process uses the highest quality steel, producing a barrel that ensures superior accuracy, even after firing 20,000 rounds.
The MR762 will be produced at Heckler & Koch's new manufacturing facility at Newington, New Hampshire from both American and German made components.
The MR762 uses many of the assemblies and accessories originally developed for the HK416/417 series including adjustable buttstocks, ergonomic pistol grips, mechanical sights, and the HK free-floating four quadrant rail system/handguard. This MIL-STD-1913 “Picatinny” type rail system allows all current accessories, sights, lights, and aimers used on M4/M16-type weapons to be fitted to the MR series. The HK rail system can be removed without special tools by the user and ensures 100% return to zero when reinstalled.
Ambidextrous operating controls are standard on the MR762, including the charging handle and an ambidextrous selector lever. The MR762 also uses the same 10- and 20-round translucent polymer box magazines made for the HK417.

Projected availability of the MR762 in the USA is late 2009.

Ok for one a Mac 11 is full auto so you have to have a Class 3 license and same goes for the suppressor. A Mac 11 is a POS after the first couple rounds are shot all accuracy of the gun is lost. But that pretty much goes for all full automatic guns out there some are worse than others. But Mac are the worst for being so light and small. Macs are only known because of them being one of the cheapest full automatic guns, so that's why gangs and other misfits use them. Personally I'd rather have a HK MP5 even though it's hell of a lot more. But it's an MP5.....

True, we should totally make a RMIC specific gun thread in off topic to clear a way for all the on topic threads like the 'GRMR PLC', 'A day in the life of' and the 'de-motivational posters' thread.

Or, considering the relatively low volume of posting on rmic and that off topic is generally implimented to reduce the clutter of boards, maybe its all right to chat about things like this on a regional board. :)

If you hit someone with a 9mm and you don't hit them direct with a hollow point all your going to do is piss someone off even more. I went with a .40 H&K P2000 lil expensive for a concealer but I wanted something with knock down power, kind of inexpensive ammuntion compared to .45 and I know when I need to shoot it for protection/defense my HK wont fail me. Not only that mine has Law Enforcement Modification...A refinement of a design created for several European police agencies, the P2000 US uses the trigger system introduced in 2001 on the USP Compact LEM (Law Enforcement Modification) model. This unique pre-cocked hammer system combines the advantages of a cocked striker component (constant level of trigger pull and short trigger travel from first to last round fired) with a double action hammer system. The P2000 trigger pull has been reduced to 7.3-8.5 pounds of pressure, compared to 12-15 pounds found on many conventional double action pistols. Optional adjustment (by HK armorers) can bring the trigger pull into the 5.5 pound range.

*cough* bull**** *cough* If you shoot anyone with a 9mm they will fall down. .45s are a bitch to conceal since your lugging 4 lbs around on your hip or wherever. And id be willing to bet i can get 3 shots from a 9mm on target faster than you can get 2 off with a .45 :P I <3 you steve :D

Hay man, my fiancee carries the G26 9mm CC weapon and she loves it. A very common misconception in self defense is bigger is always better. Now I'm not going to dispute that bigger is not necessarily better in some ways but it downfalls in others. For instance a Glock 9mm w a 135g HP round is going to stop someone relatively quickly if you use the weapon properly. The 9mm also is easier to fire and has a slightly higher cycle rate than that of a .40 .45 and so on. In my fiancees instance, small, light, fast/east to fire, w/ quick target acquisition is a MUST, so the 9mm suits her needs perfectly. If I were to invest in a weapon it would be an HK .40 but that will be down the road as my M500 does me just find for self defense for now. Also take into consideration the cost of ammo. You are rarely going to use the weapon for self defense purposes, and hell 9/10 times the weapon itself will deter a intruder. But if you intend to keep sharp on skills and visit the range for fun you may want to count up the cost of ammo first and see what fits your wallet. For me to go to the range and make the trip worth it, I'm looking to drop around $200.00 and that will put down 1/1.5 hours or 800-1000 rounds of mid grade ammunition in my 9mm or 12g. If you are looking to go into higher caliber, you will significantly increase the amount spent. All in all it really comes down to you feel works, but at $1.00 a piece for FH-S 9mm HP rounds, I'll stick with a smart shot to the head/chest.

Well folks **** happens, I was shooting and I got a "pop and no kick" BOOOOO from ammo i bought at center street brass, they said that they would dislodge the bullet, but it still sucks. I already ordered a new barrel for my Sig though. I'll post pics of the bullet stuck in the barrel asap its kinda funny hahaha

I don't have a .45 I have a .40..we'll have to go shooting sometime so you can shoot it. I promise you, you will fall inlove with the HK. It's like a Cadillac compared to a glock.

Just saw this thread; I'm glad there are so many fellow shooting enthusiasts on here!

Have:

Early-production Sig P226 chambered in 9mm (old, but very smooth and reliable; actually made in West Germany before the wall came down). Interesting fact: has never failed to eject, feed, or fire. Not once in over 12,000 rounds since I bought it. Sig FTW!

Springfield XD .45 ACP 4" compact. Interesting fact: favoritest new gun evar! Can't believe how easy (and fun!) this thing is to shoot. Can't be beat as a carry gun!

Sig Mosquito (.22LR plinker). Interesting fact: jams like a "Grateful Dead Meets Phish" concert when new, but is pretty reliable after a few thousand rounds. Good cheap fun.

Tricked-out Ruger 10/22 Target. Interesting fact: found this gun at a pawn shop with a nice old Redfield scope already mounted. Scope rings alone were worth ~75 bucks; guy sold the whole kit (gun, scope, 4 mags, soft case) for $300!

Marlin Model 60. Great "starter" .22 rifle. Cheap, light, fun. Interesting fact: mine's currently in pieces awaiting repair; good news is it's cheap. Bad news is it's cheap...

Want: Next gun will probably be a Ruger LCP...

Wife has a pink Sig Mosquito and a tricked-out Walther P22.

I might post pics of the babies if I get some time. Crap I gotta leave for werk!

Remington 870 Express. Fairly inexpensive, almost indestructible, rock-solid reliable.
Look at the options on the right side of the page: http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model_870/

Gotta love that synthetic 18" model w/7-rd capacity...perfect for some seeerious home de-fense.
What with that thur short barrel, it'd jus' right suck at killin' chukkars n' turkeys, but it'd sure do a number on them hoodlums!
(Sorry about that; I live in Tooele; that kind of stuff just slips out once in a while. On the other hand, we don't have home invasions/robberies out here. Cause we's all rednecks an' we all gots guns! :D)

And +1 for Impact. Best place to buy a gun in the valley in my opinion. Their guys are willing to actually talk to you about what you want/need, instead of just selling you their flavor of the day like some certain other stores.

They don't sit there and try to sell you the top of the line shotgun with all the bells and whistles. Just tell them what you want and they will hook you up and I would put money on that statement. the best thing I love about Impact Guns is that if they are having problems with certain guns that have been bought brand new through them they will either try to get the problem fixed or stop carrying that gun in their stores. They don't believe in selling crap and if none of them would shoot it, then its not worthy of being in the store.

This is exactly from their store:

Impact is one of the leading Online Firearms retailers in the USA. Our focus on firearms and related equipment allows us to buy in large quantities, and pass the savings on to our customers. Everyone who works at Impact, from the owners to the shipping crew, are all shooters first. We absolutely love what we do!
We want to change the way you shop for firearms and shooting supplies. We have tried to keep our online store simple and easy to use. We spend time every day adding new items, and updating the many stores and products inside our site.
We only sell items we've checked out, and found to perform as advertised. If we hear from our customers that a product is not up to expectations, we'll pull it from our store.
Impact is a pure firearms and shooting retailer located in Northern Utah, just a few miles from millions of acres of open desert. Many local shooters find our store a great place to hang out.
If you live near us, or if you're traveling through the area, please stop by and see us. We're open for retail business Monday thru Saturday(Closed Sundays)

Mosin-Nagants are definitely fun. What markings are on top of the receiver (star or arrow) and what date? I've got two 91/30s, a M38 and two M44s. I'd buy a shoulder pad if I were you, these were used when Nordic and Soviet troops had a few inches of wool over their shoulders. The carbine versions have a huge muzzle flash. Shop around online for the best ammo prices, try http://www.midwayusa.com (http://www.midwayusa.com/) , www.jgsales.com (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/www.jgsales.com) or http://www.ammoman.com (http://www.ammoman.com/) . Wolf brand is usually the cheapest, but not the most accurate, I get a lot of flyers with it, but for plinking, it's good stuff. I have an extra 91/30 bayonet if you want to buy one. Enjoy it, and I hope you buy more soon, it's a great hobby!

It's a 1936 from Tula. Came with the bayonet, cleaning kit, and all that. (the oil/solvent can came open and got grease all over everything though, haven't opened it up the bag of accessories yet) I wanted an M38 or and M44 but couldn't find one and I was supporting a cousin's gun shop. (Golden spike guns/pawn on redwood rd. near 3400ish south) Can't wait to shoot this sucker. Maybe next weekend... Can't really afford more ammo at the moment, but I am trying to get a position with more hours at work / covering people's shifts. I just need to buy a new transmission before I can worry about this. :(

AK-47 taken from a Somali pirate

Although a tetanus shot would most likely be needed, I bet this thing fires as well as when it left the factory.

Still a very nice choice. I think the Tulas have a little better quality control than the Izhmash builds, and you didn't get a mid-war rush job.

BLASPHEMY!!!!

"The 1911 was the design given by God to us through John M. Browning that represents the epitome of what a killing tool needs to be. It was true in 1911 and is true now." -- Colonel Robert J. Coates, USMC

I'm hurt that you misunderstood me. :sadbanana:

I've always said: There is only one true pistol and John M. Browning was it's designer. :p

All teasing aside, the 1911 is where it's at. Ill get around to posting some pics of my gsr soon.

And +1 to a RMIC drive and shoot or shoot and drive. (just not at the same time)

me and a couple of buddies go shooting up to Bountiful up in the mountains there is a car graveyard and during the summer there is always a new car there about every month. They are probably stolen or insurance fraud or what not and we fill them full of lead. Tannerite would be pretty awesome tho lol.

Well sorry for the crappy pictures on the last two.

First is my newest it is a Taurus Pt 1911 .45 acp pistol, about half the price of a kimber 1911 and shots great.

Second is a Saiga 12 gauge semi-auto shotgun we use it for clay shooting

Third is a Remington 700 spsv .308 tactical sniper rifle, we use this to hit targets at about 500 yards (with a good scope you can reach 1000 yards accurately)

I reload all my own ammo other than the shotgun ammo since its cheap, saves a bit of money and it is a fun hobby. I dont think i will get into hunting anytime soon but who knows, i just enjoy the time spent at the range with friends.

Sigs are nice, I have a P229, but their "1911" isn't a real 1911. If you want high end 1911, go Kimber, Wilson Combat, Dan Wesson or Les Baer.

Well I am in the market for some form of handgun. I have read a lot and think I have it narrowed to three makes/ models, though I am open to any suggestions. I have shot guns, I shoot guns, though I do not own a gun. I am wanting the gun for range shooting and general self defense at home. Not too worried about how small it is for use as a concealed weapon.

I am between:

Sig Sauer p229
Kimber 1911 (there are so many trims though)
Springfield XD

I realize these are broad choices, but I feel it gets me in a realm where I can ask for suggestions.

You can't go wrong with the Sig or XD. I have the P229 in 9mm and the XD45. They are both simple to tear down for cleaning and very accurate. I also have a Kimber Compact CDP II, a 4" model.

Yeah the more I read the more the sig seems to be the gun I will go with especially since I will just have one.

I found this, but the two tone is pretty ugly. I suppose I could just buy the other parts, but the price of those would probably be the same as holding out for a black one.

Don't you love how we can just buy and sell from private sellers in utah? no background check etc? this is a big part of why I want a gun, because who knows what other yahoo has an unregistered hand gun, mac 10 etc around here.

Look at these finds (I still think it is funny they dont require anything but cash in hand):

www.jgsales.com (http://www.jgsales.com) often has pretty good deals on Tantals and other AK-74 variants, or you could get a new production Saiga in 5,45x39.

Here is a Bulgarian parts kit build for $399 (http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/rifles/ak-47-and-rpk-rifles/p/bulgarian-ak-74-nds-2-rifle%2C-5-45x39-caliber%2C-by-cai-/cPath/209_214/products_id/3751?osCsid=5e39e03fc092bbad9c9eb4a940121f2a)

Here is a Polish Tantal for $429 (http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/rifles/ak-47-and-rpk-rifles/p/polish-tantal-ak-74-rifle%2C-5-45x39-caliber%2C-by-cai-/cPath/209_214/products_id/1648?osCsid=5e39e03fc092bbad9c9eb4a940121f2a)

1,080 rds of surplus for $150 (http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/ammo-for-rifles/5-45x39/p/5-45x39-russian-military-surplus-1080-rd-sealed-tin%2C-ak-74-ammo-/cPath/12_37/products_id/2940?osCsid=5e39e03fc092bbad9c9eb4a940121f2a)

"Spam can" surplus ammo is pretty cheap. Gunnies in Orem has it sometines, AIM Suplus (http://aimsurplus.com) usually has pretty good deals and has penny shipping sales.

I'd like to do one, but I looked at the priced of barreled M14 receivers and said screw it for awhile. Would be cheaper to buy a beat up M1A Scout and hack it up. You can get the stock from Sage (http://www.sageinternationalltd.com/si/access/ebr.html), and the flash hider is a Smith Vortex (http://www.smithenterprise.com/products06.html).
