on the 15th i'll be heading to my first auto cross, i've read over a lot of the posts here and on other forums and i was wondering what class i am going to fall under (cant seem to figure this one out) and any tips when i hit the course.

mods
98GT 16" snowflake wheels with 205/50r16 Fuzion HRi's
98GT front rotors & 2 pot calipers
98 Outback Rear swaybar ( stock is 14mm OB is 18mm )
Group A light weight Crank Pully
BIG 3 mod (grounding + altenator to battery)
Short throw shifter
98gt hood
JDM front bumper, foglights, headlights, tailights
02 WRX axle back, gutted

Fstreet prepared but your hood might make me wrong.
Other then that wheels are fine, the pulley is fine, the exhaust is fine, brakes are fine. Everything I have the limited knowledge to understand and check in the SCCA rulebook says FSP to me.

FSP because of the pulley. off to SM if the JDM bumper is the lighter one that the Impreza also uses.

Yeah, I'm thinking SM because of the bumper.

However, since it's your first ever event, and you're on street tires, if there's anyone else in FSP, they might let you play there anyway, if you let them know in advance. Local events are often a little more relaxed about some of the rules, especially for novices.

Don't forget to see if they have a novice program!

i am going out to have fun :D so i am not too worried about being @ the dead last of what ever category i am in i just don't want to mess other peoples standings up
i'll make sure to ask about sm or fsp when i get there and if they have a novice class

but the jdm legacy bumper is a lot lighter than the usdm one it replaced. the hood is kinda confusing i got it because of the scoop ( there is a swap in the future ) but it is really a little bit heaver than the stock L hood espassly when you put the splitter in (it's in the trunk, hood wont shut with the torque box intake + the splitter

Most clubs also run a Time Only class so you can run with whatever setup you have and not mess up other people's points standings.

I'm pretty new to the sport and haven't heard of that before but I really like the idea. Lots of people have mods on their car and then start the sport and don't really care where they fall as they didn't build for a certain class. That, or their mods place them in a class with prepped cars destroying them. It's part of the game (I know, I fell in BSP off the bat), but I think the Time Only idea is a good one.

Just have fun and try and beat the guys that don't know how to drive. I went to a track day last year with my STOCK 92 legacy with some horrible no season tires and was faster then guys in porsches, a couple of mustangs new and old and some other cars I had no right being faster then. That is the lesson that car control and knowing how to drive is better then having a fast car:D was awesome! Ended up breaking a control arm tho lol

Just make sure your tire pressures are the same, and bumped up a few PSI. Don't change anything between runs, you'll just confuse yourself.
