Ok i did some searching, so i am sorry if this is a repost...

Through my research I had the understanding that Xenon bulbs would give me the blue tint i desire in my headlights...

I bought some Xenon whites premium quartz glass bulbs (9005 12v 55w)
for my '05 impreza.

The lights are nicer and spread to a larger area... but I still don't have the blue tint I want. The bulbs themselves have that xenon blue tinted glass... but the light is exactly the same as before just white light...

Could someone tell me exactly the bulbs I need for my 05 impreza rs to look like this:

Buy that civic and call it a day???

From the bad lighting on the floor, I'm betting that is a HID kit. I hope it catches on fire. :diaf:

Right.

I did the same thing man, I bought the "Blue Xenon HID Bulbs" from ebay also and got the same results. You gotta get the HID ballast and bulbs.. Such as http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-02-03-04-05-06-SUBARU-WRX-JDM_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a570Q7c66Q3a2Q 7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a 1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem2 60360018289QQitemZ260360018289QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5f TruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

zapjacks is right 12000 k gives you that blue tint you want, but it'd look ricey. I'd go with 10000 k. Then paint the housing black or you'll get lots of glare and your fellow drivers will be throwin' birds atchu !:furious:

Hmm, I'd say 8,000K is well enough for that bluish tint. 10,000K is too much and the sacrifice of light output is more significant here. You're approaching purple from 10,000K.

As the K (kelvin temperature) goes up the light gets bluer, and the lumen output (brightness) goes lower. 12000K will probably be dimmer than your stock bulbs. Any HID kit will blind other drivers (painting the housings black will have little to no effect on this), have a terrible beam spread (like that civic), be the most unreliable piece of crap part you have ever bought, could catch fire, and won't help you see any better. But it will be blue.

However, blue light is the absolute worst color light to see by at night.

I think you have some learning to do.

Read every article on this site that you can.
www.danielsternlighting.com
And don't throw your money away on terrible lighting parts like HID kits and blue bulbs.

It sounds like you dont have HIDs and you think you have hids! HID bulbs dont have tinted glass at all! The Glass on HID lights are clear and you get the color from the Kelvin/temp rating on the bulb! You probably have some kinda PIAA bulbs in or somthin. Also HIDs have ballasts which is an extra box to power the bulbs! What your gonna want to get that look is Get 9005 HID Bulbs with a temp rating of 10,000k!

My mom has a lexus that came stock with HID's in them and I love the look and lights, they are brighter than my stock now.

so idk, still lookin into it... do they sell the kits in any stores like kragen... or is it all online?

your moms lexus also had headlights that were designed for HIDs. your subaru was not.

Do they have 7,000K?

6,000 is probably found on like Acura TSXs and stuff, and maybe 7,000K has a slight blue tint to it.

no, there is no 7k
8k is generally the start of blue
10k is a deeper blue
and 12k is more purple

acura tsx's and most stock HIDs are 4300k. you see more blue because some beams have more blue light from the cutoff sheilds, or the spacing of the lens.
