In Canada we have a lot of imported 15 year old+ JDM cars roaming our streets.
I just now noticed that JDM imports are excluded from solo SM class according to the SCCA rulebook. Up here the JDM cars get classified as "engine swapped" and put in SM.
If one was to bring a JDM imported GC8 from Canada to compete in a SCCA auto-x in the U.S., how would it be classified?

Are you talking about a local or national level event?

correct. how is that for a useless answer. Legitately, u can be protested into A-Mod. Something like a GC8 should be able to compete in SM where there was a corresponding USDM body for it. But many JDM imports do't have corresponding shells. The Skylines for example. maybe they should be on a S/SP exclusion or just go straight to EM.
so i guess u should be writting a letter to teh SAC?

Stock, SP, ST, P all require being sold through US Retail outlets.
AM it is since it's not legal for DM or EM (require being sold in US retial outlets).

Well, you could easily win most local AM classes and would have come in 11th at last year's Nationals :)

Both, or either. Not that I would be nationally competitive.

Thanks KC :D
Now I need to really decide if a GC8 is what I want
