I've been reading through the forum and from what I've read an ALK knocks me out of any of the 'street' class and puts me in either the P or M classes. I've been reading the '09 rules and I'm still just as confused. From what I was able to understand my car should be in EM. If so, would it be safe to assume that getting a motor swap won't change what class I'd be in?

Here is a list the mods I have done to the car:

Whiteline 24mm WRX Rear Sway Bar

Yes. I read it. I still have questions. I was trying to be considerate and not run in the wrong class and possibly take away points from other competitors.

Thanks for the help! That solves that. Now I'll read up more on the rules for that class.

No, not EP, FP. The aluminum drive shaft kicks you out of SM IIRC.

Shouldn't be EM I don't think since it's still a subaru engine. Induction is unlimited/unrestricted in prepared.

A novice really doesn't want to show up running his first event in e-mod! ;)

Why not FP? The aluminum driveshaft and ALK kick it out of SM, but why into EM? I figure there is a rule I am missing.

Can someone put together a thread that lists basic scooby mods that bump you into a higher class?

ALK puts you in...

Tranny swap puts you in...

Turbo swapp puts you in...

etc.

I think tha basic mods are pretty well documented and understood, it's the other stuff that's harder to figure out.

I'd also note that not everyone seems to care as much as NASIOC. I got told to "get a life" by members of another board's "motorsports" forum for telling someone they were running the wrong class :)

Heh. This **** happens at local events all the times. SR20DET 240sx w/a GT40R was running STX the other week.

Are you going to National events? If no, run in SM until someone complains and says you need to be in XX. Then switch to XX.
If yes, read the rule book.

Not just yet, but I'd like to try and compete against other cars in my class.

+1 This car as it sits is eligible for either FP or XP.
