I recently purchased a 2005 WRX and have since noticed that the windshield washer wont spray fluid. I checked the fuse and it was good so I changed the pump thinking that with 70K miles it may have just gone out, no big deal.

After changing the pump it still didn't work. I checked the pump by take the ground directly to the battery which engaged the pump spraying fluid. I do have +12V going to it so I assume that the switch (toggle) connects ground not VCC. Any one have any suggestions as to what I can do to trouble shoot this, I travel a lot and the bugs are starting to get bad! Note: Yellow/Blk wire to power.

thanks

pulling the stalk to you is a "wipe clean" mode (no wash) - pressing the button on the stalk activates the washer... I guess you knew that, but I forgot one time and was pulling the stalk wondering why the stoopid WW wouldn't work... my problem was between the steering wheel and the seat.

Put a different hose on it. See if it still fails to spray.

If you have voltage and fluid. You have a bad pump, likely a bad seal on the veins. If you go to the dealer. Expect to pay $100.

I have a $10 fix. :D

Go to the junkyard. Find a pump in almost any japanese car. It's likely the same type of pump and will work with no mod needed. The rear pump on the wagon is a bit different. Yet will work if rewired. Spent $10 and even got the wire and clip. I pulled mine from a 90 legacy.

Hope that helps.
