I need some help guys.

I picked up some used Morettes for a really good price. The only caveat is that they are pretty badly damaged.

I have a few pictures of them, if you guys have any suggestions on how these can be repaired, if they even can, that would be great.

Also if any of you know how I can go about getting replacement parts for them, that would be good also.

yeah you will need new low beams, they have them at Morette, but they are not cheap figure at least 400 for both shipped or close to it.

I have sent them an email. Hope to hear back from them.

I picked these up for $50, so if I need to spend $400 to get them fixed that is fine.

is it just the glass thats broken on these? i recently picked up a set for my bug that had a broken lens... after getting no response from Morette at all, i started looking at lights of other cars on the road and found that the Mazda Tribute fog lights are the exact same size as the morettes.

I ended up ordering a replacement Tribute fog light off ebay from the US for $29.99(postage to adelaide was double the cost of the light itself! haha!) and fitted it last night. it was a little bit of stuffing about with removing all the extra silicone and one small cut to the outer ring of the part the glass sits in, but if you dont mind a little work its a cheap way to fix it!

yeah you still use all the gear you have pictured, but just replace the broken glass lens with the one off the Tribute one.

i didnt take any pics during the process, but i got mine looking like this:

I removed the projector from the rest of the light (3 small bolts) and removed all the broken glass and scraped out the remaining silicone from the ring where the glass sits (the grey stuff with the broken glass from this pic)

when i got the tribute light, the base was easily separated from the lens and housing, so i just put that in the oven on low for 10 mins to warm up the silicone and the glass popped out of the plastic housing easily. scrape off the silicone from the glass as much as you can.

The glass lens has a 4 notches in it that line up with the outer ring of where it sits on the projector (the plastic ring on the outside of the grey silicone, you can just see one at the bottom of the projector above). 3 of these will line up and you will need to carefully cut the last one.

Once you have done all that, clean up the projector and make sure that anything that might have fallen into the projector housing has come out. clean the lens on the inside as you wont be able to get to this later on!!! run a thick bead of silicone where the grey stuff used to be on the projector housing and then press the lens into it, lining up the notches. I held these together with tape while teh silicone dried.

once dried, put it all back together, whack them back in the car and your done!

Hmm...I tried baking my backup lense, it didn't work it seemed to be super stock onto the plastic. I know you said low but what temp did you bake at?

it was about 100 degrees... but im an aussie so thats Celsius not Fahrenheit. not sure how well the projectors go in the oven, i didnt need to do that. the stock headlights are fine so you would assume the projectors out of the morettes would be ok.

basically you dont want it hot enough that you melt the plastic, just enough to soften the silicone holding in the glass. if it doesnt move fairly easily then maybe put it back in for a little longer.

I got most of the broken lens out of the projector now. What is the best way to remove the silicone? Knife + elbow grease?

i just used a small flat head screwdriver and a bit of elbow grease. once you get the screwdriver through the silicone and between it and the plastic, it seemed to come off fairly easily.

bump because I'm having a similar problem with a set for the old Imprezas - the GCs. Well, it's a GF, but whatever.
Anyone have the diameter of the inside light? Inside being closest to the grille?

Morette is out of business and getting parts shouldn't even be attempted. You're gonna have to find an alternative solution to fixing it.

Morette is not out of business, I got an email from harold o'Conner at morette jsut last week about replacement headlamps for my bugeye, quoted me a price shipped even.

Did you guys need to bake the Morette projector as well? I'm contemplating doing that, my glass lens is chipped as hell. Scared to destroy my headlight though :lol:
