Has anyone done a manual fan switch or a lower temp fan switch?

How did you do it or where did you get it?

I think that the thermostat does a good job of operating the fans, and if you're having heat problems despite that, something is wrong. However, if you're still inclined to do this, I'd assume a simple switched relay would do the job nicely. You'll just have to splice the wires from that to the wires driving the fan.

No problems just want more air flow.

Mishimoto just came out with a low temp thermostat.. I haven't had a problem with any of their products, including a thermostat we put in my friend's GSX.

You should be able to wire one in yourself easily. Run a switched ground to the fan relays under the hood. I wouldn't recomend disconnecting the factory controls. You might just forget to turn them on once.

Another thing you can do is disconnect your A/C compressor (very easy) and then turn on the A/C. The fans should come on, but your A/C won't.

I have critical low temp thermistat.

Yes I know the risk if I forget. Yet I will likely use it more often then not for the summer. The hook the factory back for the rest of the year. I already have a spare plug.

Just need to see about how to.

I wish I could figure out a way to override the oem setup and power the fan :D

I've done this for years with GM cars I've owned with electric fans.

Run a second switched ground wire from the relay coil, leaving the OE wiring intact. Place a diode in-line so nothing can backfeed into the ECM. This way the ECM still has control over the the fans, but you can activate them whenever you want.

I have always wired them so I can turn on each fan individually, but you could wire it so both come on at the same time.

Can you give me more detail info on this. Please!

I was going to look at the Subie's wiring tomorrow, so I will get back to you then...

*edit*

Each fan has a relay (duh) and the whole relay module pops right out of the holder, so getting at the wires is no problem. I don't have time today to start wiring it, but I may tomorrow. I'll take pics when I do.

Won't work, fans are activated by pressure not engagement.

Yea no sorry that wont work. This fan is activated 3 ways.

1) a/c switch. but the correct freon must be in the system.

2) higher temps

3) a/c switch with the car off, but key on.

Still waiting on more info on your idea.

You know...........

..........You can use Opensource tuning and just lower the temp the fan stages come on.

By grounding the red/blue wire of the main fan relay it will turn on the fan.
