I was lucky enough to have BMW come through Richmond for their Driven For a Cure campaign. I drove a 330i w/ Tiptronic like 'box. from what i can say about the car..... the engine... PURE silk... i have never in my life had the privilage to drive such an engine. Even the 993 TT Porsche in FL. This car has raised my bar for smoothness and refinement. Though it's no Scoobie!!!!!!!

I did the same thing here in Phoenix. Drove the 330I. Sucked it was an auto, but the tourque, oh my it was lovely. Throttle response, It wasnice. Wife didn't like the doors. She said it was too heavy.
Overall it was a nice car. Worth 40K?

If I ever win the lottery, I am going to buy a Z3 coupe for my everyday car. Until then, I will just have to "settle" for my WRX wagon.

i've driven the 330xi and everything about the car is smooth - the engine, acceleration, steering. am i the only one, though, who doesn't like the way it handles when driven spiritedly? i think it's too smooth and isolated and prefer my legacy.

Z3? You mean M-Coupe, right? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif

Nope, Tim. There's a Z3 Coupe. I didn't realize it either, until I saw one parked next to my car two weeks ago. Confused the hell out of me, but was definitely not an M.

I drove the 540i wagon w/the Tiptronic-type box and all I can say is http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/eek.gif ! But for $55K what do you expect? I'll take a WRX and a Forester and start remodeling my kitchen.

The Z3 coupe is one of my favorite cars. Most people hate them, but I wouldn't mind at all http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

my dad just bought a 330ci with the sport package last week (only to later return it becuz it didnt have real leather, which he payed for) but the car was amazing...and so so so beautiful. thing handled amazingly and just an amazing engine. very quick too. almost felt as quick at the wrx i test drove.

I did the drive last year. You can sign up for your area on the BMWUSA site. It is a lot of fun for a good cause!
I drove about 10 cars for more than 80 miles total at my local dealer. Every mile you drive as of last year = a buck for breast cancer cure.

I really liked the roadster though the shifter in that car was hideous. Unfortunately someone rolled the M-Coupe that was part of the fleet at another event. The X-5 was very impressive in feel/handling.
540i fast. 323Ci fun but undernourished.

If I had the money I`d pay and have all the roads graveled and drive like mad man spinning all 4 wheels in my wrx and smile as all the gravel flies and dings every single car on the rd. AND SMILE http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

They had a M3 there, but sadly I ws a year under the required age of 25 for the M3 and 5
I really wanted to drive one of the convertables. One thing I didn't mention, is that aside from the engine, I wasn't all that impressed with the sportiness or handling... when compared to my RS. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

I drove the Z3 2.5 and the M3 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif)

The M was hell on wheels! Actually it was a little dull until I turned off the stability control and turned on sport mode.

Oversteer, glorious oversteer!

Not only are the brakes strong, but the action of the ABS is also the best I have ever experienced by far. It's like threshold braking, not choppy brake pulsing. It works the tires right to their limit. I was very impressed.

The event was even staffed by attractive young women. They were content to have me just keep driving cars all afternoon, but I only had as much time as a long lunch would allow.

Call me greedy, but I hope they don't cure cancer for a couple more years...
