The APS intercooler core is of internally finned construction and offers significantly enhanced flow and heat exchange performance over the standard intercooler and other front mount intercooler systems, particularly at high charge air mass flow rates. Also, unlike other manufacturers of WRX intercoolers who reduce cost by using deeper cores of small frontal area, the APS D/R Series intercooler is designed with the optimum ratio of intercooler core surface area (over 314 square inches!) to intercooler volume (1,1020 cubic inches). The result is an intercooler system with outstanding flow and cooling performance, particularly at high engine horsepower levels.

The legendary APS front mount intercooler has quickly become the benchmark for all front mount intercooler systems for the Impreza WRX. Extremely high flow rates and massive temperature reduction - a level of performance that other manufacturers can only aspire to achieve.
APS has now upped the ante even further with the release of the D/R 725 front mount intercooler system, specifically designed for very high horsepower Subaru WRX and STI engines.
Unlike other systems that require cutting of structural components at the front of the vehicle, APS has designed the D/R Series FMIC with a truly bolt-on replacement unit that not only maintains the structural integrity of the vehicle, but also forms the perfect mount to accommodate the largest FMIC available for a WRX and STI.

Another bonus for the Subaru performance enthusiast is that the APS D/R Series FMIC maintains the standard fog lights!

In the case of intercooling, where bigger is better, APS shoehorned the largest intercooler core possible into the WRX for maximum cooling capacity and engine performance. With intercooler core dimensions of 9.5" x 28" x 4.5" (24.1cm x 71.1cm x 11.4cm) for a surface area of over 266 square inches and a total intercooler core volume of 1,197 cubic inches (19,600 cm3) (the largest by far of aftermarket WRX and STI intercoolers) that's over 4.5 times the size of the standard top mount intercooler.

APS TMIC:
As boost pressure is increased, the temperature of the inlet air increases and robs power from the engine. Substantially revised for 2003, the APS dual entry top mount intercooler with twin induction to better spread the cooling effect on the incoming charge is designed for maximum street performance on any MY01 onwards WRX. With the significantly lower pressure drop (less than 0.02 Bar / 0.3 psi at 240 kW / 320 hp across the intercooler and 1.6 psi total pressure drop including the throttle body), it's a perfect partner for a high output roller bearing turbocharger.
For optimum performance, the intercooler core itself is internally finned with large internal charge air channels. This results in huge cooling capacitywith very high contact area for heat transfer and the highest volumetric air flowrate. Just as importantly, the APS cast alloy end tanks ensure even charge air distribution through the intercooler core without "hot spots" commonly found in aftermarket intercoolers. That along with a huge 11,075 cm3 (677 in3) of intercooler core volume compared to the standard intercooler's 4,305 cm3 ensures the maximum possible intercooling performance. At nearly 2.6 times the volume of the standard intercooler, the APS top mount intercooler is absolutely the largest top mount intercooler that is possible to practically install in the late model WRX or STI - with core dimensions of 51 cm x 19 cm x 11.43 cm (20.07" x 7.5" x 4.5").

APS TURBO INLET:
Designed to improve airflow and prevent collapsing common with the stock corrugated turbo inlet hose, the APS 02-09 WRX & STi turbo inlet pipe, or "Compressor Inlet Duct," is a great solution for your turbo Suby. Because of the limited space beneath the WRX & STi intake manifold, turbo inlet hoses have typically been constructed of silicone. APS has designed their thin-walled stainless steel inlet pipe to fit under the stock intake manifold and offer the maximum possible internal diameter for optimal air flow. The steel construction of the APS turbo inlet completely alleviates the risk of the pipe collapsing under suction.
The entry hose to the APS Compressor Inlet Duct features silicone construction with bellows to allow for engine movement, and has an internal diameter that is the same size as the pipe's outer diameter for unrestricted airflow. In addition, the APS WRX & STi turbo inlet includes 3" and 2.4" turbocharger couplers, so it can be used with a stock or aftermarket turbo with an oversized inlet, so you don't need to buy a new inlet when you upgrade turbochargers.

APS SS42 Turbocharger:
The APS SS42 turbo utilizes 2.4in inlet, TD06 sized compressor housing and 45lb/min wheel coupled with a 7cm exhaust housing, designed specifically for 2.0 liter Subaru models. The APS SS42 uses an internal wastegate, includes an 18psi upgraded adjustable wastegate actuator and is intended to give the best performance when tuned between 18-22psi. The SS42 is a great small turbo upgrade option for 2.5 WRX and STi models that do are looking for a great road race or autox turbo. The SS42 is a true 320+whp turbo with a noticeable but generally tolerable lag increase on a 2.0 WRX. You can expect the APS SS42 to make between 320-350whp when tuned with proper supporting modifications. Includes all oil feed lines required for a complete bolt-on install.

The APS SS45 uses an internal wastegate, includes an 18psi upgraded adjustable wastegate actuator and is intended to give the best performance when tuned between 18-22psi. The SS45 is a true 350whp turbo that will increase lag significantly on a 2.0 WRX. The SS45 is a great 'big' turbo option for 2.5 WRX and STi models that do not plan on running race gas. You can expect the APS SS45 to make between 350-380whp when tuned with proper supporting modifications. Includes all oil feed lines required for a complete bolt-on install.

APS 3" Turboback Exhaust System:

Exhaust system design parameters immediately after the turbocharger are critical not only for outright performance, but for optimum torque and turbo response. The optimum internal profiles cannot be achieved with twin pipe or bell mouth pipes. APS has engineered the High Flow Turbo Outlet housing for extreme gas flow and high exhaust gas temperatures which are normal in high performance turbocharged engines. Cast in high temperature ductile iron ensures optimum internal shape and maximum durability under high rpm, load and boost conditions
The end result is an exhaust system that produces high outright power with stronger mid range torque than fabricated turbine outlet style exhausts. All this with improved turbo response (less lag) when running large turbochargers and maximum durability.
