Ok guys I have a 03 wrx, a few weeks back my alarm started to go off out of no where when I was not home. My dad used my key remote to turn it off it would not turn off so he took out the wires going to the horn and the disconnected my battery. Once I plugged everything back in and tried starting my car, it would not start. I knew it was my battery since none of my lights worked and doors wouldnt lock. So I got a new battery started it and it worked for about 2 days. Now when i go to start it, it does not turn over at all the lights turn on, i am getting fuel and the starter is not clicking so i know its not my starter. Sometimes itll start but right when i turn my car off it does the same thing. My car has not been mobile for a week now and i do not want to take it to the shop because i know its going to cost a arm and a leg. It seems like a loose connection or something. If any one has had this problem or know anything about this can you guys please help me out. Thank you

Call me crazy but Id start with your alarm and everything it interacts with. Check all the fuses.

ive checked the fuses, if a fuse was blown wouldnt it not start at all? it starts sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Also what would i need to check with the alarm Im sorry guys Im a noob when it comes to electrical issues. I want to fully disarm my alarm but i dont know where the brain is. People say its under the dashboard but i dont know what im looking for a picture can say a thousand words so please if someone can take a pic on where i should look it would be really helpful. Thank you

pull off the bottom part of the dash. take a look at your ignition harness. there will be four wires. white green yellow and i want to say blue but i could be wrong. there will be a connect where all the wires change to black with different color traces(stripes) if i remember correctly the starter wire is the black with the white trace. if they installed the starter kill option of the alarm the starter wire with actually be cut in half with both sides going into the brain of the alarm unit. try cutting those wires and reconnecting them back to factory. the starter kill relay could possibly be going out. if that doesn't work for ya shoot me a pm i'll try and walk you through some other ideas

There is a safety switch for the clutch or automatic transmission that passes voltage to the starter solenoid. I would check that out. The switches can go bad or get out of adjustment.

Is this the stock alarm or an aftermarket?
All I can think of is that if it's an aftermarket alarm, it's randomly engaging the ignition kill whenever it's feeling crabby.

I would just remove the alarm. Unplug the brain (usually mounted at the drivers knee panel). Just unplug the brain, and as already stated look at the ignition harness. You will see one wire that is cut into two, reconnect this wire back together. This wire is for the starter disable and if the alarm is bad or having issues will not allow the car to turn over.

I assume you saw voltage getting past the switch since you checked it. If that is so then you need to check out the wiring after the switch and see why voltage isn't getting to the starter solenoid.

Test the alternator, too. Could be under failure. Should be able to test it at Autozone. If it isn't that, then my only suggestion is to change the starter.

i figured it out ...i guess its the built in kill switch for my alarm...i reset my keyless entry remote and everything works fine now..
