so i bought an oem lamco boost gauge from someone on here, and he snipped the wires on the back of the gauge. there is a yellow and a black wire.

now i would assume that the yellow is power and the black is ground. from what i have searched and read the easiest place to hook it up would be into the back of the radio?

now if my assumptions are correct the yellow wire would be spliced into the blue w/ red stripe wire on the back and the black wire would be spliced into the black wire on the back of the radio harness.

is this correct? Just want to make sure im doing this correctly, i know it is supposed to be one of the easiest gauges to install, but i hate wiring and figure i would make sure im doing this correctly for i mess something up!

Thanks for you help

On nasioc somewhere is a great diagram of the radio wires as far as which is power and ground and such. Run the black to ground and yellow to power and you should be good.

Also butt connectors will do but soldering is better.

The wires are only for the lighting since the gauge itself is mechanical. Depending on what version of the gauge you have, the illumination may be a standard bulb or an LED (AFAIK the Lamco's were updated with LED lighting at some point). If it's the older type with a bulb, the polarity of the wires doesn't matter. If it's a newer one with an LED, the polarity is important and it won't light up if you connect it the wrong way.
