This is a picture of my aftermarket short shifter by SS Auto Chrome. The rod connecting the shifter to the tranny broke in half, thats tubular steel. I think it is due to poor engineering of the parts. My co-workers say its cuz I am too strong. What do you Suby Enthuesasts think of it> ??

I installed this part about 6 years ago and its been under constant useage, but should this part really fail like this under normal useage?

I would not buy anymore SS Autochrome aftermarket WRX Parts - buyer beware!!!

BTW does anyone have a stock shifter/linkage rod laying around they would like to sell to me? I am in Maple Valley/Bellevue area. dorazio.dan@gmail.com

I took this image from my iPhone.

12sechatch: I am interested, when are you avaliable? how long will it take for you to pull the part? I was going to head to Arlington (Cambpell Nelson auto wrecking) but they have 37 orders to pull before mine.

JasonLHall: I dont even know if SS Autochrome is still around, they are kind of obscure part manufactures if i remember right, its been a while since I have been into the modding side of my WRX.

Ya, that looks like a pretty cheap piece made by them. I go kartboy and their shifter is solid.

I'm busy tonight (might be able to free up 20 min or so if you come to me), but free tomorrow. I have it in my garage.

not until I get off work and get home. Probably not until 330 or 4. Then I have to dig through my box of crap at home and find it ;)

I understand if that doesn't work for you, no biggie.

Davin: Just to be clear; the parts I need are the stock shift lever (where shift knob screws on to) and the rod that links the shifter lever to the transmission under the car. So I need both parts, I think my bushings and bolt/nut are still good.

Is this what you have??

I do NOT have the rod that goes to the tranny, I am using that. All I have is the actual shifter lever itself (that you grab on to).

Good to clarify: looks like I will need to go to Arlington junk yard anyways, cuz I need that linkage rod (between tranny and shift lever). But I appreciate your entertaining my questions. If I need the shift lever, I will let you know.
