I was about to park my car at school this morning, when all of a sudden I see a gush of water shoot into the air from a distance. I parked my car and walked over to the other side of the parking lot where the water was coming from. It turns out someone hit a fire hydrant across the street from the school.
The worst part is...the car that hit the hydrant was a Subaru SVX. I know the guy (18-19yr old kid) who owned the car. He said it was a '98 SVX, green color, and it had the SVX logo on the side of of the car near the back wind.
A friend of mine, who also knew the guy, was driving behind the SVX. I don't have the exact details, but I know he was driving too fast (in a 25mph zone) by a construction site near our school. He fish-tailed left and right and eventually hit the fire hydrant and ran into a pole. I'm not sure if his car is AWD or RWD. Neither the driver nor the passenger were severely hurt. But that kid sure didn't know how to drive a car of this power. I've heard him talk about how his car is so cool, yet when I commented and asked him about his car he didn't know much about it.
This is just another case of a child being GIVEN a powerful car that he can't handle. He just got the car no more than 2 weeks ago. From what i could see, the car was damaged pretty bad and VERY VERY wet. The passenger side looked caved in as well as the back window. This was such a sad sight to see.
Some of my classmates had digital and regular cameras. I hope to get those pictures and post them later.
PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY IN ANY CAR YOU HAVE.
