While parking at a fast food, I noticed that I had my sun roof open without realizing it. So I started wondering, how fast can I go before the sun roof gets pulled off or damaged by the aerodynamic drag? Will it handle the top speed of the vehicle??

What's the highest speed anyone here have ever gone with the sun roof open?

I think I have never gone past 65 - 70 mph with the sun roof open before.

That's a good question. I've had mine open while on the freeway many times, up at 90+ MPH, and no problems.

would it be possible to replace the sunroof with a moon roof instead? i mean just replace the painted cover with a glass cover? has anyone done that at all?

I don't think its an issue. I topped 110 with mine open. If it were an issue they'd let you know like the old jaguar convertable that had a plaque on the dash saying not to exceed 140 with the windows open and the roof up.

There was a guy on this board who did something like that, but with a piece of Lexan instead of glass. The problem is that the sunroof is curved, and you would have to get a custom bent piece of glass/plastic/Lexan, otherwise it looks kinda odd, sticks up on the outside edges, and is below roofline level in the center.

i have maxed mine out.....115+ no problems.....but it does kinda hurt your ears:D
