I found this on Ebay and its local so I went and checked it out, but I'm wondering what I should offer.

This is the car firstly:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1830397341

Mods are as follows:
Painted Side Skirts
RB5 Spoiler
V5 front lip and grille
Pink I badge
JC Sports intake
V5 suspension
Kartboy Short Shifter and Bushings
Momo Shift Knob
Alpine 3 disc CD changer
Brushed Aluminum Dash kit
JDM Tail Lights
Tinted Windows

Factory options:
Security system, factory Tweeters and I believe thats it.

The car looks to be in extremely good shape, although up close there are a few small dings, and the hood has a number of chips from rocks on the road I'm assuming.

Condition wise, the car has the original RE92's which look to be near the end of their life and one of the wheels has a bit of curb rash. I still need to get it inspected but I drove it and for the most part it seems to be in perfect running condition. The car has been raced however.

It definately seems to be a great car, and because its local I know what I'm getting as opposed to most Ebay cars, but what do you think I should offer? I really only have around 15k to spend, and if I'm going to need to replace the tires soon I need to take that into account.

So any ideas on what a good offer would be? Or is 15.5 already a good deal? So far I've had 1 other second opinion and they seemed to think around 14k was a good price.

Cyber,

I saw that add on Ebay too. Its def a nice car. I think $15,500 is too much. I've seen more than a handful of RS's sell in the mid $13k to $14k range. I think that is a fair price. I guess my suggestion would be to go ahead and try offering the seller (an I-club member perhaps???) $14,500 or $14,800.

btw- Did you carfax the vin number?

Absolutely.

The red coupes are pretty rare. :) Plus he's already done some nice choice modifications. Anything between $14.5k and $16k seems reasonable.

Just use Carfax and make an offer. :)

Thanks. I ran a Carfax and it came up clean, but then again your more likely to find a fish under the seat then you are to have Carfax tell you it was driven into a lake. My sisters car was totalled and never showed up on there, so Carfax is usually only good if the car was issued a Salvage title.

when i was in th market for my RS, i was looking at a somewhat modified 98rs for 15 or so. I decided on a completely stock MY00 RS. I was worried about buying a sports car that has had work done to it. You know it was run hard. Not something i wanted to worry about after i let go of 15 g's. I sometimes say, damn i wish i had a modified car, but i think i'm happier with the stocker so i can do it up myself and i know what is happening to it. Maybe have some local i-clubers check it out with you. I think it would be easier for people that work on theses cars to diagnose any problems a lot easier that a reg mechanic.
I think it looks nice, and the red...ooohh.mmMmm. 33000 miles is kids play milage too. i have double that in my00 already. Good luck and I hope it all turns out well for you.

hmmm Cyberdemon what you wrote sounded like a good advertisement tag line for Carfax...

"Carfax.com where your more likely to find a fish under the seat then for us to tell you the car was driven into a lake."

A friend of mine ran a carfax and some other VIN website and both came up totally different.

He still bought the car and was lucky it wasn't a great piece.
