im wondering if its possible to fit 2.5 heads on a 2.2 block?
i heard that the only thing different from the 2 blocks was the bore size, which im not concerned about if i decide to build my engine to be more powerful, i can get it bored through my school or work.
then all i need is different pistons i guess.
if theres anyone out there that knows about these engines alot, let me know, because i kinda wanna get at least a better flowing head on the car, the 2.2 SOHC just doesnt cut it right now, anyone know how much of a gain i would get if i port+polish it.

i want more power out of my engine, but i definatly cant afford a turbo/supercharger, and i dont wanna go with the happy-gas.
any other options, let me know,
thanks!

AFAIK, the 2.5L heads will bot directly onto the 2.2L block. It's a good way to go for a turbo application, I've heard, since you'll get the better flowing heads along with the thicker, stonger sidewalls of the 2.2L. Hey, 2.2L is good enough for the 22B!

so if i can find a good set of 2.5 heads on ebay or somewhere(private classifieds) and get them polished, all i gotta do is find the cams, valves, and seals(if not included)?
can anyone suggest cam upgrades, or should the 2.5 heads make a good difference in power compared to the 2.2 SOHC heads.

i realize i would need to change my now 1/2 year old timing belt out again too.

has anyone out there done this "2.2.5" motor setup.
im not planning on going turbo unless i stumble across a large sum of money, all im after is a little better flow.
would the exhaust and intake manifolds bolt right up to the 2.5 heads?

after thinking about this, theres quite a few things i realize i might have to change, but if its a direct bolt-up, minus the t-belt i think im all for this conversion, i will even get a dyno run at school if possible when the swap is complete.
any other suggestions or just general advice and what-not is accepted.

All of the above comments were based on you doing this with a EJ22B block (B = turbo, not the car) I'm sure the heads will bolt to the block, but the intake manifold may not.

A Legacy turbo short block with DOHC heads & intake bolts right up. Some mods but all in all, very eazy. This is your best bet , BTDT. If you have more Q's I'd be glad to help.
