I've seen some pics of the brp imprezas, and they really look good, imo. But, since it's a dark color, I was just wondering about cleaning it. I'm pretty lazy...usually I just go through the automatic car wash. And then drive out and let the wind dry off the car.

If I got an Impreza in brp and didn't hand dry it, is it going to show spots?

Also, what about swirls? Or is that only on black?

How's the silver for keeping clean. I figure it's alot easier.

The silver doesn't show the dirt as bad as the darker colors. But I live in Seattle and the rain usually washes most of the dirt off for me.

I've had a few different colors of cars over the years and yes silver is so far the best to hide the dirt.

Silver, by a long shot, hides dirt best. White is the easiest (it's the only non-metallic?) to touch up.

I've had both, and the Silver is sooooo much easier to keep clean than the BRP which I have now, I love them both, and either way you should be happy... After all, they're still Imprezas!http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well, the silver just morphs into beige when it gets dirty, so no problem there.

Silver is better for hiding the dirt and swirls. BRP is not (and yes the swirls show alot with the BRP). But washed and polished, the BRP is sweet. . .

I love my BRP but it does take a lot of matainence to keep clean. If your lazy I would suggest white or silver.

Yeah I know one non-Impreza owner with a silver car that hadn't washed his car in many winter months through snow and salt... I must say it looked cleaner than my BRP the day after a wash. Somehow that just doesn't seem fair to me! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

Right now, my car is dirty. And I can't stand the site of all that pollen and dust on the hood from inside the car. But when I come back to my car in the parking lot I am amazed at how good it looks (even dirty) from a distance. From 10+ yards out it still shines, even with all the dust and crap.

how about the two (I think) people out there with the STEEL BLUE MICA paint jobs? Last I remember they looked absolutely bad @$$ (think near gunmetal color)!!! How do they look as they get dirty? Thinkin about the steel blue...

I used to have the RS in silver, I didn't even have to worry about cleaning the car maybe every 2-3 months. You won't notice the dirt. But now I have to clean my BRP TS almost every 2 weeks. How's that sound?

MattJP, has the right idea. Yes the silver hides dirt and even looks good dirty. But if you have both colors clean, (even though I own silver) The BRP is pretty bad A$$ looking.

I just put a major cleaning on my BRP sedan, and with a good wax it looks AWESOME. Such a nice reflection http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif . Just rememeber to bring a large towel and don't let water sun dry on it http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif

If you're too lazy to hand dry your car, do yourself a favor and get a California Water Blade. It's basically a big squeegee, but the blade is made of sillicone instead of rubber, so it's really soft and molds well to funky shapes. It gets water off of your car VERY fast (faster than a towel or chamois), and won't scratch the paint. I love mine. Probably the best $20 I ever spent on car care.

Silver RS's far shows less dirt.
Unless we're talking about running through some seriouse mud. And color would look dirty

White has a way of showing "clean spots" giving that tell-tell signs that that it's dirty.

On bad side is that after cleaning a silver RS the before & after is not that dramatic as a darker colored RS would.
The Silver is more like.. "ding-ding it's clean" ,
And the BRP/Black would be like, "Bling-Bling, Daaammn that's CLEAN!

Yeah, my girlfriend's is a b*tch to keep clean. I should know, I am the one that cleans it. It's especially bad if you live where it snows. Colorado is a crappy place to try and keep a car clean. But other than that, I love the color. My next car is going to be white though. Silver is definitely the easiest to keep 'looking' clean.

The silver is easy to keep looking clean. I sprayed my car off over the weekend, didn't have time to wash it. Hasn't been washed for a month or so and it still looks pretty clean.

Yeah, I used to have a silver saturn, (http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/factory/6672/) that I would hardly ever wash, always looked clean! Even paint chips didn't show up at all. Now my BRP Subiw on the other had......oh man! you gotta keep her C-L-E-A-N! I spend at least 2 hrs cleaning her every week, and drying her VERY carefully...everything shows. Swril marks, paint chips..everything. But when its clean, it shines and everyone looks! Thats the only problem with Silver, it doesnt look all shiny and glossy when its clean, its not a deep, rich colour like blue or black.

General consensus is that silver requires less cleaning to "appear" clean. But I love the look of my clean car at night (no bright lights needed), so I picked BRP instead. Besides, I like my car to be stealthy at night (if only I can find some RADAR/LIDAR absorbing material http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif). For the record, I don't wax my car, but I still need ~3hrs to wash it "properly"

BRP is bad as far as keeping it clean. Shows EVERYTHING. Waterspots.. .yuck.
