View Full Version : How many WRX drivers don't know the RS is an Impreza, too? Mike Smith 06-07-2002, 02:47 PM I'd say most of 'em. Darn n00bs:p HondaH8er 06-07-2002, 03:49 PM Another good question is how many WRX owners don't realize the WRX is an Impreza? MagicMT 06-07-2002, 06:09 PM I hear ya. :( It's annoying to see "Subaru WRX," like that's the only car Subaru ever made or something. What's even more annoying is when WRX owners post blindly and just assume that every single post is about their car. Mike minx 06-07-2002, 06:22 PM Originally posted by MagicMT I hear ya. :( It's annoying to see "Subaru WRX," like that's the only car Subaru ever made or something. Wonder what they think the "i" in i club stands for. Now the RS owners feel like the L owners. LOL. At least most people who own a RS and see a L know what it is. I saw 4 WRX's the other day (all blue wagons), waved to all of them. Got very weird looks from all of them aka ***?. I've long given up on Forries and Outback owners, most (not all) of them wouldn't know a Impreza from a Cav. The best the older subaru car owners (Brat, Loyale, Justy ect) they're almost as exicted to see me as I am to see them. I've only had one of them not wave/thumbs up at me (if I wave at them), and that was an old lady. At the end of the day we all own Subarus. cmaj7 06-08-2002, 01:28 AM Wow kewl...good to know! jaycastaldo 06-08-2002, 11:15 PM too bad the old school imprezas look better than the new style :) Marc Sawaya 06-09-2002, 01:32 AM I'm not gonna vote, but I bet it's a scary percentage. Eric SS 06-09-2002, 02:41 AM A couple polls I'd also like to see are: 1) Did you know your WRX is an Impreza also? 2) How many WRX owners know that everywhere else in the world the GC8 2.5RS was called the WRX? Eric kevinsUBARU 06-09-2002, 09:49 PM Startling numbers indeed....no one knows what the hell an "L" is...I always get the "So is that a Kia?" or "What makes you think you can drive in that with FWD". I just laugh and drive. Then I get the "Oh man, you have 4WD!" (or more correctly AWD) The question I would like someone to ask is: The first year of the WRX (or the Impreza for that matter) was in what year? Might be funny to see how many people put 2002:lol: Kevin Hondaslayer 06-09-2002, 10:16 PM All WRX owners are sheep!! YOU HEAR ME SHEEP ALL OF YOU SHEEP!!!!!!!!!!! Once again 6 spottings today and only two wave backs. One GC8 with Ver6 and a OBS. 2Point5RS 06-12-2002, 03:18 PM Hell.. I've seen some vendors put "For the RS and Impreza" HoratioCaine 06-12-2002, 04:01 PM I was parked next to a WRX at dinner last night and to tell the truth, the back end of the new age is really growing on me. It looks more impressive, more modern. The tail of my RS is looking a little dated or something. Oh well. I owned an L before my RS, I know what they are. (And I also think the RS isn't really worth the extra $5k. ) grubaru 06-13-2002, 12:08 AM It's gonna take a while for those dodge neon headlights to grow on me, though.:D HoratioCaine 06-13-2002, 04:21 AM Originally posted by grubaru It's gonna take a while for those dodge neon headlights to grow on me, though.:D My sources say that they will be gone for 2004 due to poor international sales. So you better get used to them quick before it's too late. :) And I actually kind of like them. I prefer a glass lense like I've currently got though. mkgcars 06-13-2002, 07:06 PM For a newbie I do know the differences. [Although the I'm slow on learning some of the abbreviations - GC8 for example. You guys have a dictionary for newbies?] I thought the same thing about the new headlights- but they are growing on me. The L vs RS: I really liked the RS the first time I saw one years ago. Last year bought a used one with with 15k on it when they started showing up for sale (after the WRX came out). Also looked at a L with 9k. But I must admit that these days I feel a bit of a poser with the non-functional scoop and wing - and that makes me think maybe I should have gone for the L. [I know I could get a cooler wing - but I'm also trying to keep a lower profile on the highway]. But the RS still has more engine than the L - and options that I wanted (cruise, sunroof), so for me it still made sense to go RS. I've been enjoying the site. Find new stuff all the time. Thanks to all. matt RaceCarRiot 06-13-2002, 10:54 PM ah yes...i keep finding myself tempted by the newer cars, but then i get in my car again...i love my car. it's so low key. so disrespectful. i keep saying it's slow, but that's after driving other (really fast) subarus. during a spirited commute home last night, it managed to stay half a car length ahead of a new GTi VR6 from a standing start til the top of 3rd gear when we both called it quits...and this was after giving him a 1/2 car length head start at the light, since he couldn't stop quick enough to keep it behind the line at the intersection. "damn! what engine is in that thing?" "the base 110hp engine." at which point i grin. ---> :D he then mumbles something incomprehensible, and drives off. :adam: MagicMT 06-13-2002, 11:28 PM Who voted 100%?! Mike Matt 06-14-2002, 10:28 AM I used to give Golf/Jetta owners a run for the money in my L too. :) That 1.8 is just indestructable. :) I'd love to find another to use as my commuter car. Q: "why does a VR6 need those 2 extra cylinders?" A: "to get the hell out of a 16V's way." :D i've been mulling over doing an engine swap for some time, but this car is just too much fun as-is, and plenty quick despite it's humble origin...having to worry about things breaking and having to baby the car, rather than hammer on it to a point that would kill lesser vehicles just wouldn't be as much fun. and if it does get beaten, well, it is just a KIA after all... :p  :adam: grubaru 06-14-2002, 07:12 PM Originally posted by RaceCarRiot ah yes...i keep finding myself tempted by the newer cars, but then i get in my car again...i love my car. it's so low key. so disrespectful. :adam: So disrespectful?!   That's the best adjective I 've ever heard used to describe a car -mike gritzcolin 06-15-2002, 04:14 AM The 2.5 RS looks better than any DOMESTIC WRX stupid 4 doors. RaceCarRiot 06-15-2002, 09:11 AM i dunno...when we worked on Nick's (the prez Nick) new WRX last weekend, i thought it looked pretty sweet...the factory body kit and some anthracite rota tarmacs go a long way in making the new body style look nice. if they keep the new body style from the front of the front fender back, and change the front fascia back to something evolved from the GC8, i think they'd have a winner. N/A 06-30-2002, 08:24 PM Subaru will likely drop the bug eyed headlights and lower the price since they aren't selling the newer body nearly as well as the older versions. I know of one Japan dealership that it took 8 months to finally unload the first and only GD body car that they got. N/A 06-30-2002, 08:26 PM Starve a country of a turbo model for a few decades and then anybody will buy a turbo car. Even if its a funny looking one. Too bad for Subaru that doesn't work in the rest of the world. |
