My younger brother Paul (Boulder) and a friend of his, Tanner Faust (Steamboat) are forming a team to run at PPIHC in the open class at the end of this month. They both are running Wells Coyotes, each powered by a fuel-injected alcohol burning small block Chevys at about ~700hp per. The car that my brother's running ran a 10:05 at its last foray up the hill. For those of you that aren't too familar with Pike's Peak, that's a second under the all-time record set by Rod Millen (which, I think, is quicker than my STS Impreza could do...). And let me assure you, both Paul and Tanner can drive. So, give them a yell when they fly by.

I'll post some pictures when they become available.

Mark,

Excellent! What car #'s will they be in? Has Paul driven an open wheeler with that much horsepower before?

The Wells Coyote is an excellent car, but the fastest it has ever gone up the mountain was a 10:39.76 with Gary Lee Kanaweyer last year under perfect conditions. Gary has a few more horses then most of the other Wells Coyote's and he is a hella driver. The only open wheel cars that have ever gone faster where Paul Dallenbach in the funky Chevy PVA 1 at 10:27.24 and Robby Unser in the world's fastest front loader:lol: the Speedway Motorsports Chevy thing in 10:05.85. Both of those times were set in the record breaking year of 1994. Unser's car had Chevy backing and a full Motec crew from Australia handling engine manangement. If that is what Paul got Holy $h!#! That car was a monster but it was not a Wells.

Tell us more!
