Ok i found my car. Silver 99 RS 5-speed. It has 70k miles on it, what should be looked at and replaced, maintained, whatever..? I'm new to the subie circuit so i'm in the 'need to know' category. Any insight or info you could give would be awesome! Thanks.

well if that 99 has a Phase I DOHC engine, i'd avoid it...

Phase I's have an awful tendancy to go ka-put.
heads or short block.. (cylinder)

SO if this is RS a DOHC? if so... i'd keep searching.
as it wont be covered under warranty any longer...
and you dont want to shell out $$$ for a short block!

if it is a SOHC....
check for oil leaks
check the axles
run the VIN and see what maintenance/repairs have been recorded in Subaru's system...

I hope this helps!
feel free to ping me w/questions...
have a great day!

It should be ok...

At 70k, the block or headgaskets would've failed already. My friend's '99 RS automatic has been trouble free with light mods. :) Its got almost 60k on it.

And make sure it had its 60k service. That'll iron out any bugs the car may have had.

You should also keep an eye out for the looks of approval and awe you will get from the general public who will want to know what kind of amazing machine you're driving.

And then look down your nose at all of the bandwagon WRX owners:lol:
