How much would you pay for a '98 OBS, 5-speed, good condition, no extras, 76000 miles?
The dealer has it marked at $9995, I told him he'd need to be close to $8,000 for me to do the deal. He told me he'd talk to the boss so I told him to call me at home. He called back and said they can't deal on it.
Am I shooting too low? I'm not paying over $9,000 for it but am wondering if I fooling myself about getting a comparable car for $8,xxx somewhere else. This car comes with no warranty.

i wouldnt pay more than 8000, stick with and tell them you wont pay over 8000, a 4 year old car that has 70k miles...and whats the original price of the car?? isnt it like $18k?? if so i would not pay more than 8k, heck 8k seems like more than id pay...if they can get 10k for that car, i better be able to get 14k for my jeep when i sell it, its a 97 with 45k miles on it

Kelley Blue Book lists a '98 OBS base 5MT with 76k miles at $10,875. Depending on the condition, 10k sounds about right, but you should be able to talk them down easily.
The MY98 and higher Impreza 2.2 OBS has an extremely high dealer resale value. $8k is shooting a little low. Heck, my insurance company handed me a check for $9.4k when I totalled my MY98 and I was told that it's expected to auction for around $7.5k (stock, all aftermarket parts were removed after the accident):
