View Full Version : No one in Mississippi owns an RS!!!!! Eric SS 02-08-2001, 12:12 AM I was just looking through the Members page and saw that you can't click on Mississippi for members! No one lives in MS?? Eric hacman 02-08-2001, 12:15 AM Those poor, unfortunate people. Isn't there anything we can do? My dad lives in Alabama, and he said he hasn't seen any either..... FLUBYUx2 02-08-2001, 12:49 AM Eric.. thats dixie land. tht place is dominated by old american steel. its OWNED by mopar remember! them ol DUKE boys and the Ol General LEE! YEEE haawwwww! chris Eric SS 02-08-2001, 12:50 AM hehe... True! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif Eric Habu 02-08-2001, 01:10 AM Oh man, I was just in MS and TN last may. I was truly Imprezzed with TN, not the honky state I thought it would be, in fact TN is a downright beautiful state. MS, on the other hand..... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif Oh boy, I had a great time, mostly because I was with my flying team. I've never flown over so much flat, green land. But geez, they weren't kidding when they said it was the poorest state in the country. Not to bash Mississippi in ANY way, but it's just what I observed. Just like you said hacman, those poor, unfortunate people..... Gotta fly! Skippy Pipercub 02-08-2001, 05:26 AM As a former resident of MS I can tell you why there are NO RSs. MS is a third world country and the only individual of RS caliber (me) left ASAP. And 172, BASH away, it isn't slander if it is true. They deserve every bash they get. I can tell you first hand that I have never before seen a people so proud of failure and ignorance. It is a badge of honor to be ignorant of some important matter. If I had a dime for every time I heard: "I don't know nuthin bout that" or "Them computers aint no good fer nuthin" and the ever popular "I caint wait to get outa high school so I can gets me a G-O-B." [This message has been edited by Pipercub (edited February 08, 2001).] ChaosThom 02-08-2001, 05:47 AM If they made an RS pickup truck, then there would be some is MS. To any of my friends in MS - just kidding, I know you would still buy American. Pipercub 02-08-2001, 06:37 AM Actually MS has a rice infestation now but it is poor mans rice. Example: Old Geo Storm w/ gold chain plate frame, chrome wipers, 5in exhaust tip, and 4 in wide tires on rims that are outside the wheel wells, two Yorx home speakers in the back seat. 1980's Honda Accord w/ springs pulled off, camber camber camber, Type R painted on the rear. 1988 Chevy Cavalier w/ chrome hubcaps that have fake rotors, 5 in exhaust tip, tint that is falling off, chrome wipers, two house speakers in the back seat. Bankheist 02-08-2001, 06:40 AM We dont have any in the Vigin Islands either http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif Waltsacura 02-08-2001, 05:11 PM i didn't know there were any PEOPLE in MS... Habu 02-08-2001, 07:10 PM Hahahahaha, alright Pipercub, I shall let the floodwaters loose! My flying competition was at Grenada Airport, next to Grenada Lake. IN the brochure I got before I went, it showed a blue and green, lush lake that people were fishing in. I thought this was just a ploy to get you there. Boy was I right! The ACTUAL Grenada lake is a HUGE body of water, with the brownest murkiest sludge I've ever seen! And people fish in that??!!?? YEACK! I did see ONE Yamaha YZF-R1 down there, and I couldn't believe my eyes, I had to take still and video of it for archiving. I know it's a bike and not a Subie, but I like them too and I was shocked to see one there. I dooubt that people even know there's a car company called Subaru. The funniest thing was when we were in Wynona, MS practicing landings at a small airport. The fuel guy was typical hillbillie. He was an ag pilot, and he told us "UH yeah, ah wuz gonna fla this mornin' an sprey, but the playne wouldn't start, so I just went home and got drunk!" http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif I'll give them one thing, though the are quite hospitable people, the "Southern Hospitality" was truly present, but they mean IQ level....... Ah well..... Gotta fly! Skippy Damon 02-08-2001, 07:27 PM i live in beaumont texas, (extreme south east texas) close to the border of louisiana. i am the only person that has a RS! there are a few outbacks, but as far the RS population goes, i am the one and only http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif its kinda nice not being part of a huge crowd (like i was when i had a 99 Si) but then again it kinda sucks not bein able to buddy up w/ some people. houston guys.. when i actually get some money imma have to come hang out at some meets w/ you guys http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif KeithRS 02-08-2001, 10:05 PM Unfortunately, the job has had me working 5 days a week in Jackson, MS for the past couple of months (I still live in Jacksonville, FL). I think I have seen one(1) Subaru there (it was a Forrester or Outback or something), and I was pretty amazed. Unless you like deer huntin', there really aren't too many reasons to go there. I am soooo happy on Friday nights when I get back in my RS at the airport... hacman 02-08-2001, 10:33 PM http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif I plan on going home for a week in march. I'll make sure to do a study of the Alabama Subaru Population. But I'm afraid I might have better luck seeing that elusive 6 foot catfish at Smith Lake that's been talked about since the 60s. The irony is, where my dad lives, they have just about every car dealer imaginable, including Subaru. Yet he has yet to see one. Same town also has the only authorized Hummer Dealer..... yet the median salary for the county was $18k in 97. go figure... ./hacman.nu (http://www.hacman.nu) crash 02-08-2001, 10:51 PM Hacman, When are you coming down? Maybe we can hang out if you have some time. I am going to the Pro-Rally in Chatanooga, TN from March 15-17. I live in Birmingham and I nearly fell out of my chair when you said that about the 6 foot catfish! There are 3RS's in the Birmingham area that I know of and a couple in Huntsville, and one in the southern half of the state. That is all I know of. I assume your dad is from Jasper? Not only does Jasper have the only authorized Hummer dealer in the state, but it was the easiest place to hire a hit-man according to some survey in the mid-90's! Thank God for Mississippi! If it wasn't for them, Alabama would be last in everything! The taxes are not very high in the state, but you get what you pay for! I love the people here, it is a beautiful state, but our government SUX! The school system here just LOST something like 11 million dollars! They can't account for it! It is ***** like that that makes me want to raise my kids elsewhere. -Nate (who will hopefully bring a WRX wagon home to Alabama soon) hacman 02-10-2001, 04:53 AM crash - e-mailed ya back. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Oh, and there's a Sube dealer in Jasper. If i'm not mistaken, it's owned by John Crump. I'll talk to dad tomorrow, and find out for ya. If so, then I might be able to get ya in with the sales manager (old friend of the family), and see what ya can work out. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif kevinsUBARU 02-10-2001, 05:54 AM You guys are sooo funny! I have a friend in Purvis, MS and I always kid her about MS being a seperate country! She does live in a town with 2 colleges, so it cant be that bad. Its just when you leave the "town".....http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif montgog 02-10-2001, 11:57 AM It would be kinda hard to use an RS as a logging truck. Thats all I ever see when I go through that state. codemunky 02-10-2001, 12:48 PM What are dem cars called??? Soo bow rooh? Never heard of them. Hey, wanna see my new shotgun? It's in my pickup truck. You can take the keys out of my my camouflage pants. Damn, this weed has some flavor to it. kevinsUBARU 02-10-2001, 03:52 PM Your Su-ba-ru is fast you say!? Did ya put a V8 Chevy in it or somethin'? Charge 02-10-2001, 05:09 PM Everyone's ripping on old Miss, but it's like that other places...take old Mt. Carmel in Union Township, where i originally lived outside of Cincinnati... The soup d'jour was a 1977 F150, lime green, slightly rusted, with, of course, a gun rack and a confederate flag tailgate web thingy. I stick out like a sore thumb when I cruise through my old neighborhood...CRX's are about as sophisticated as they get. Neil Prog 02-10-2001, 05:21 PM We dont have any in the Vigin Islands either they dont need RS's , they have all the WRX's and EVOs to play with http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif (if you go to the virgin islands youll see tons of WRX and EVOs..in fact, the EVO VI that they roadrace here in PR comes from there http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif ) hacman 02-10-2001, 05:34 PM Is that there one of those Newfangled cars? Looks like a spaceship or somethin'. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Ironically, the last time I was home, there was an increasing import market. More honduhs than anything, but there were still a few supras. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif Rick Buckner 02-11-2001, 01:31 AM I've wondered that for some time now. Rick http://www.kustomrydes.com KeithRS 02-12-2001, 10:31 AM I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I saw an Impreza L near the Jackson Airport today! Willman67 02-12-2001, 12:52 PM Havin growed up in Missippi I can tell you why there ain't no subies dere- 1.) nobody "owns" anything anyway. Most folks are still sharecroppin 2.) There arent' any stickers showing a little boy pissing on a ford and chevy emblem wearin a subaru shirt. 3.) AWD with 50 cray supercomputers ain't gonna figure out traction in gumbo mud (consistency of vasoline for those non-deep southerners) thats a few feet deep. Ya need a 10" lift kit and monster tires. 4.) There ain't enough used broken down ones with 500,000 miles on the odometer to attract enthusiastic note lot owners and subsequent food stamp buyers. 5.) There ain't no translation for the word Subaru in the language of white trash. 6.) It aint' low down and long enough for everybody else (non-white trash). 7.) It don't swap out parts with the lawnmower or 1934 tractor in the yard. 8.) Hard for a family of 8 to live in. 9.) Doesn't look as good with shotgun pellet holes in it. And the #1 reason.... 10.) not as easy to molest your children/siblings with the great window visibility of subarus. Dats my story and I'm stickin to it! The Wilster driving his wicked bone stock 99OBS. "I'll race any of you punks on ice with a kayak on the roof and two mountain bikes on back of our cars" Eric SS 02-12-2001, 02:37 PM I had no idea this thread would last this long http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Eric Habu 02-12-2001, 06:30 PM Hahahahahaha Tony! I believe that! How muddy must those fish be when you pluck em outta the water! another experience from my MS trip: Try to imagine a guy launching into a 10 minute tirade when you ask him for directions. He was being rather helpful actually, but I don't think it takes tem minutes to say that you have to go to the end of the street, turn left, go past 2 more srteets and turn right, does it??!!?? Gotta fly! Skippy Pipercub 02-12-2001, 07:33 PM After getting out of the Army I went to school at Ole Miss for 4 years. Now that place is a freak show. Every town in MS produces a Prom Queen and a quarterback and they all go to Ole Miss. All the old money is there and it is something to see. "Dadda Dadda, Will ya'll buy mah a new porshea, the ol' uns dirtay?" tom@kartboy 02-12-2001, 07:36 PM unfortunatly my job sends me to MSU for a few weeks it sucks there no beer on sunday WTH? there are some good back roads to drive on except i have a big ass suburban to drive ther but seeing a burban going slideways on a dirt road is a interesting sight http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif pooreman 02-12-2001, 08:54 PM You could post me in that state. I live in Memphis, TN and MS is only about 15 min away--depending on speed http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif. Not from here and wouldnt claim it if ya paid me. I have the only one in town and the Subura dealer here sucks. They actually gave me **** about trying totest drive it like it was a viper or something. So, I bought mine from Nashville,TN. Its strange, everyone likes the look and those who I've taken for some joy rides--hehe--, say it handles like cars that are 15K plus more. I even got a challenge to race a porchse from one VP whos pride was hurt when the Marketing Director said it handled better than his high dollar car. I think I'll wait till I get Trey to work on it though... Tony 02-13-2001, 01:46 AM c172skipilot, You're right about that lake. I had the pleasure of flying into Granada for business (Heatcraft is a supplier of ours) and they drove us by the "lake" on the way to their HQ. Apparently there is a fish called a Crappie (although it's pronounced "crawpy", but I didn't know at the time). So anyway there was a big Crappie fishing tournament going on and they had signs everywhere saying "Welcome to Crappie, USA". And I'm thinking, *****, at least they admit it http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Tony scott_gunn 02-13-2001, 11:58 PM Go easy people - I grew up in MS and although the Southern accent is mistaken for ignorance - it's really no different from other states. I live in Tampa, FL now - have had short stays in Denver and LA as well. Trust me, there is ignorant white trash everywhere. Inside the few cities in MS is just like being in any other city, except the people aren't as rude. Well, that's my sticking up for MS. It really does suck but it's not as bad as some of you people are making it out to be. Sure it is in some spots.... Also, I'm ordering my WRX from Gulfport, MS. Better deals then here in Tampa, and I have to drop my current car off in MS. Pipercub 02-14-2001, 06:05 AM I bought my RS from Jim Kearas in Memphis and it wasn't too bad of an experience. They had a 99 RS in the showroom in June of 2000 so I snagged it w/ 60 miles on it and a good discount. As for MS, I grew up there and I found a few groups of people incredibly rude. During school I managed a radio shack and I found that the worst behaved demographic were white males over 45. These people are nice on the surface as long as you properly ingratiate yourself to them. If they don't feel their ego is being stroked they get into that "lookie heaya" mode. Following behind them is the angry black male character and all the rest of the cast. During the slow hours we conducted our behavioral science experements, charting out behavior and such by age, race, dress, and other charctaristics. Over 4 years we got a very accurate model! jImp 04-15-2001, 08:59 PM Hey, a certain Bob Jones has bought an RS and is from MS. Whoo, we now have all 50 states. |
