Got anymore (links)? Mark 07-15-2002, 08:01 PM check these out www.protecnica.com.au one of the leading Subaru teams - great site - heaps of good photos www.procar.com.au the series organisers www.bathurst24hr.com new site with all the details about a 24 hour race these guys will be raicng in later this year In2Deep 07-16-2002, 01:24 AM You guys know what type of suspension the Rex's are running over there? Mario In2Deep 07-16-2002, 01:27 AM Ah I see... Bilstein coilovers. Mario Boaty 07-16-2002, 01:36 AM Hi Mario .. I drive for the ProTecnica Subaru Racing team and we use Bilstein coil overs as does David Woods who also runs a 'New Generation' STi in our category (the black one pictured above). Regards, Wayne Boatwright bgsntth 07-16-2002, 08:39 PM Hi Wayne, Glad to have you aboard....Now we can badger you ruthlessly for product information! What Pagid pads are you using? Black RS14 or Orange RS 4-4? Comments?. I think Gary is using Black RS14 for his USTCC ride? Are you running Falken Azenis RS or true R-compound or race tire? Comments? Congratulations, btw. You seem to be enjoying a lot of success in you first year with the car. Thanks, Martin Boaty 07-16-2002, 10:01 PM Hi Martin, We actually use a new Pagid RS15 pad which is more aggressive (higher coefficient of friction) than the RS14. Its harder on brake rotors but definitely produces more negative g forces under brakes according to our data aquisition systems. For combined road/track use I think the Rs4-2 (which is Pagid Blue I think) or RS14 (Pagid black) might be more suitable. The other excellent road/track pad is the Endless NAR. The tyres we use are RS003 Falken racing slicks (i.e. not Azenis or R spec tyres). Falken is one of our major sponsors. They take a lot of interest in the feedback we give them and in fact we are expecting some new specification tyres from them to test before our next race meeting. Thanks for your interest. We have been struggling a bit with the new car this season. In 2001 I drove an STi version 6 and we came close to winning the championship (broke the gearbox while leading a race) which made us 2nd overall but this year has been a bit tougher. We are looking forward to competing in the first ever International 24 hour race at Mt Panorama in Bathurst in November. Regards, Wayne In2Deep 07-16-2002, 10:02 PM Thanks for the info Wayne. Currently there is only one Subie I know of on our shores that has a Bilstein set-up... and that's on an RS. There is however a WRX that is supposed to begin testing the coilovers soon (Brett Norgard) here in San Diego, CA Cheers, Mario Porsche914boxer4 07-16-2002, 10:17 PM mario...he has been testing it for awhile now, and will resume once they get a new engine on the Rex. I am the owner of the RS with the Bilsteins. Very nice setup. Trying to get the guys at Bilstein to bend me some stiffer springs though! Eli STS #554 In2Deep 07-16-2002, 10:50 PM Oh damn! New Bilsteins AND a new engine via Mike Shields... that car is gonna rock! Like it doesn't already ;) Mario Boaty 07-16-2002, 10:57 PM Mario, Both of the race teams here that are running Bilsteins used 'pre-production' custom made struts with Bilstein inserts to start with but Bilstein has now released a new off-the shelf coil-over kit for the WRX's which includes adjustable bump and rebound.
