What's the max HP you can obtain with the stock turbo with every bolt on/mod imaginable? I'm talkin about a BPU+++ WRX.

View Full Version : Max power potential from stock turbo. KillerRex 07-05-2002, 01:58 AM What's the max HP you can obtain with the stock turbo with every bolt on/mod imaginable? I see you are already into the stuff. So how about a TXS stage 3 plus N2O. Stage 3 keeps the stock turbo. This uses the cast uppipe and the TXS intercooler. Should be a natural for making use of N20. Perhaps some dyno data will be available soon. mrtrex 07-05-2002, 10:21 AM If you want to blow up your motor being stage 3 is running 99% duty cycle with out nos. Plus it is a FP turbo. S-1 07-05-2002, 11:26 AM i haven't seen anybody making more than 235-245 whp with the STOCK turbo (not including the FP upgrade) I'd say that these numbers would be just about it with the td04 on the rex. smacksube 07-05-2002, 12:08 PM from my understanding the wrx turbo is the stock mitsu turbo on the newer gs-t's. If that's the case then I do believe that the DSM guys top at about 330 - 350 hp with that turbo....however, I've heard the injectors and ecu's on subarus are weak and won't handle that. But you're prolly looking at somewhere in the field of low to mid 300's at the crank. AndyRoo 07-05-2002, 02:15 PM The turbo eclipses have garrett t25's, and i hear they top out in the low 300's, if they do as much as is reasonably possible. I'm pretty sure the wrx has a different turbo, dont know what kind though. I would like to know, so, little help? How much bigger is it than the smallish t25? edit: thats 300 flywheel hp JenisonWRX 07-05-2002, 02:35 PM I thought they had TD05's TypeC 07-05-2002, 03:32 PM Originally posted by smacksube from my understanding the wrx turbo is the stock mitsu turbo on the newer gs-t's. Nope. 1G has a TD05-14B, 2nd gen has a T25. The US WRX has the Mitsubishi (ironically  ) TD04-13G. Totally different turbos. z&cobb 07-05-2002, 07:42 PM Originally posted by mrtrex If you want to blow up your motor being stage 3 is running 99% duty cycle with out nos. Plus it is a FP turbo. Check the txs page. There is a new concept for Stage 3. You haven't been keeping current:D It is the entry that has the TBD next to it. Plus wet nitrous takes fuel from the pump, which has enough to serve the 5th injector. Z1 Performance 07-07-2002, 05:05 PM About 275-300 is all you can realistically expect and still keep a safe power level - that should translate into solid low 13's (13.0-13.25) on a mtoro without NOS, and other essentils (hoses, race gas, fuel pump and some form of fuel control). The WRX uses the same turbo as 1 unit from the 3000 GT VR4 (TD04, 13G wheel). The WRX uses "L" version (TD04L), but I am not sure what this designates. 1G DSM's use TD05 turbos, 14 B wheels (in the US at least, some JDM cars used small 16G wheel). Auts use a slightly smaller turbo to give comparable spool and similar performance to the 5 speed models 2G cars use a turbo that is so small it is not even worth mentioning (T25's)..again, 5 speeds and autos use a slightly different spec to keep performance closer to one another. The WRX uses a Mitsubishi made turbo (Mitsu is a HUGE OEM supplier of parts such as turbos), but the flange bolt spacing on teh intake and exhaust sides is 100% unique to Suabru..no otehr car uses it. adam Z-1 Performance Conduit 07-07-2002, 08:07 PM Originally posted by Z1 Performance About 275-300 is all you can realistically expect and still keep a safe power level - that should translate into solid low 13's (13.0-13.25) on a mtoro without NOS, and other essentils (hoses, race gas, fuel pump and some form of fuel control). I still have a few more parts that can be bolted on and I'm also on the stock, untuned ECU. I will have a better idea, as I have made some changes and will be tweaking the AF mixture with a S-AFC by next weekend, and I'll have new dyno numbers also. NotoriousWRX 07-13-2002, 06:20 PM Just wanted to post an updated figure of power for this thread. I just dynoed 243.6 AWHP. :D |
