I saw some silver RS with a bike rack once and wondered where he got it. So I went down to my nearby subaru dealer and they said they don't make any roof racks for my car, and gave me a brochure for overpriced performance parts for the WRX. I already have the mountain bike attachment that I used to put on my dad's volvo, but his car was rear-ended by a econoline van going 50 a 1/2 year ago R.I.P. All I need is the rails basically that the stuff mounts to.

Thule and Yakima for sure, probably Saris too. Not cheap, but will
last and can be inexpensively re-fitted to other cars later.

there is also a rack system that is sold in europe that fits the impreza. it mounts into holes that are under the black rain gutters along the car. it looked like a neat setup.

I got mine from Jim Childs (cheammotors@btinternet.com) at Cheam Motors (http://www.cheammotors.co.uk/index.htm) in the UK. I think it was about US$275 shipped--I'd have to check on that...

Here's a picture of my RS with the Thule kit. This picture is with an old camera so its a tad fuzzy, but you get the idea. :) Its a little pricey when all is said and done, but it keeps both bikes on top at 100mph. :devil: Its very sturdy and I don't know if I'd trust anything else. The factory kit shown above is really sweet too...just not sure if it still fits the RS, especially coupes.

I have a Yakima system for my RS. Ran me about $350 including canoe mounts. Sunroof still works when it's installed, too. :)

The mounting hardware and method is supposedly the same for Old School/New Age Imprezas. Just little mounts install under the roof trim.
