Anybody have any solutions on this? Sponaugle has water injection on his car, and I'll be putting it on my car within the next week or two. The stock winshield wiper tank is too small - you can empty it pretty quickly.

I've looked at the STi water tank that fits in the trunk, and while its big enough, I don't really like the idea of paying $300 for a tank.

Any suggestions?

Why not make a container for the trunk?

Could be a ghetto milk jug or two...

Or maybe a stainless steel tank of some sort, like a giant oil catch can for the water spray?


I would think what it is would have to be in the trunk, there is really no room for large amounts of anything under the hood.

you should definately use the mrt water boot tank. www.spimotorsports.com has them for sale. they hold like 10 times the water of your windshield washer tank and it looks cool. heres a picture of it. spi sells it for $179.99! this is what i am going to use.

Interesting - do you know what the capacity is? And what's with the wiring, is there a pump inside, or is that some sort of water level monitor? I definitely want to do that as well, so I know to stay off high boost when the water runs out (to avoid ruining the pump and/or knocking my engine to oblivion).

I don't mind putting a 5 gallon tank in my trunk, actually I'm pretty sure thats what I'll have to do. but I want to find something that looks halfway decent - bungy cording a 5 gallon gas can isn't what I had in mind, and I want to be able to hook up a LED to warn me of low water level.

I just bought a stainless 5 gallon tank for $15 off ebay. The guy keeps calling it a keg. It holds pressure to 130 psi (I plan on pressuring it to ~15 psi). I'll have to do some work to it, ie drill and tap for new fittings, put in a level sensor, and a bottom feed.

$29 shipped is cheap compared to most of the stainless tanks I've sourced. It'll take some work, but I've got more time than money right now, and I get a good amount of satisfaction doing things myself.

ps, if you want to search ebay for the tanks, don't look in ebaymotors, just the normal ebay, I saw numerous very feasible tank options there.

Has anyone ever thought about using the water that condenses from your air conditioning? Put a small tank (with an overflow), and have the AC drain line go to it.

A nearly endless suppy of water in theory.

I dont' think you understand the amount of water this uses - the 1 gallon washer resevoir isn't near big enough to do any sort of spirited driving for more than a few minutes. I could easily see draining 1 gallon in 20 minutes on the track.

Go to any PRO shops and you will have a large selection of stainless or Alumin containers to chose from. Circle track racer build their own car so they uses all kinds of tanks to hold fluid with.

The MRT one is 12 litres I believe and the welds are very nice and clean, if you need any help with install I can forward a good email with picks that someone sent me.

I made an aluminum bracket in the trunk and put in a 5 gallons plastic gas tank with a water line quick disconnect. The water line is then route to the front of the car where the pumb is. It cost about $20 and I can use the gas can in emergency.:p

A 5 gallon Cornelius Keg that you could buy from a beer making supply place would probally work well for what you want it for, though im not sure how you could wire something up to tell you how much water you have left in it, though if you have any electronics knowledge you could probally figure something out. They also have dip tubes that go all the way to the bottom of em so if you cut it off around the middle and pointed it down it wouldnt still be full and cause you to run dry. And if you decide you dont want it in the car anyome just take it out and put some beer in it :) Just do a search for beer making supplies and you'll get hundreds of hits, and if you cant find any drop me a line and ill tell ya where i got my kegs from.
