I may go to the track tonight to do some baseline passes with my new BOV and before I put the CO2 spray kit on. Anyone else wanna go?

I might go, but I was wondering if you needed help putting in that CO2 doohickey?

Can't put it in yet, I'll give you the scoop on it tonight.

BIZAMMMMMMMMM!
I ran my two fastest times tonight.

14.187@94.70MPH & 14.181@94.50MPH

WOOT Now I'm running stock Mainland WRX times!
I guess my stock BOV was the weakest link or aftermarket BOV do something after all.

i guess your stock bov couldn't hold even the stock boost pressure!-Scu

Me too. Sigh. I suck. I picked up 1.25mph from a MBC and a TB Racing pulley - but still couldn't get anything under a 2.0 60' and/or a 14.8 in the quarter.

I did manage to pull a .500 light purely by accident/luck though. Small consolation. :-)

Right on MachV... What kind of BOV should I order? :-)

What sort of boost do you dial in on your SBC anyway? Does the BOV allow you to hold that boost any better?

Copy of an e-mail I sent to Wes detailing my track exploits (of more accurately, the lack thereof :-)

I suck bigger a**. :-( I ran EXACTLY the same ET as I did before I put in my MBC and lightened crank pulley! I picked up 1.25mph, but still ran 14.8's... GRRR!

I thought I FINALLY got the launch down too! I got the front wheels to "chirp" and it felt GOOD. But still only managed 2.0's. ARGH. :-)

Pass #1:
2.065 60'
9.521 1/8 et
70.87 1/8 mph
14.872 1/4 et
92.58 1/4 mph

Pass #2: (Missed 3rd gear - ARGH!)
2.034 60'
9.449 1/8 et
69.13 1/8 mph <-- missed that 3rd gear shift - CRAP. :-)
14.892 1/4 et
91.22 1/4 mph

I give up. Maybe I need to buy a blow-off valve like Dan and that white wagon? Maybe that's the secret "go fast" bit that we need to run stock WRX times in Paradise. :-P

The last pass I took your advice and took out my tire, jack, carpet, cardboard, etc. Looks like I was on my way to my fastest time yet - but then missed 3rd and ran out of time for a 3rd pass. Sigh. My clutch is starting to stink too.

I'm thinkin' that Dan is right and this just isn't a 1/4 mile car. :-P

I can't believe that I only picked up 1.25mph and NO e.t. from a MBC and lightened pulley. The car feels WAY stronger and I hold 15psi of boost in 3rd and 4th on the freeway. I think on the track my boost was tapering down to 11-12 at the top of 3rd at redline though. I wonder if I should buy an EBC (like the SBC-id that Mach5 runs) or what? I don't want to spend the money, but I want to run the times! :-)

*sigh*

Don't give up! It's taken me 4 months to get down to a STOCK WRX time. Just keep practicing your launch, get your 60' time's down and get rid of that stock (restrictive) muffler. Let that down-pipe you have breathe.

Well here is what I did last night. Consider that I am a crappy driver (all my launches are 2.02 60 ft or higher) I guess I need the extra horsepower in order to compensate and make me more competitive.

2.023 60 ft
8.798 1/8 mile et
80.77 1/8 mile mph
13.615 1/4 mile et
101.09 1/4 mile mph

I also let nolimit take a run in my car since he is a better driver. It was his first time ever driving my car and he also bogged 1st gear and still got.
1.945 60 ft
8.634 1/8 mile et
80.65 1/8 mile mph
13.518 1/4 mile et
98.71 1/4 mile mph

I probably should have stayed longer and let him get more runs and lower times but I had to get home to the wife and kids.

Consensus is that this car is a low 13 sec car in HI and possibly a high 12 sec car on mainland. But I'm still a crappy driver.

I've got the bigger hood scoop, just waiting for it to get painted. (Need to get off my lazy a$$) splitter and water spray/co2 spray will be forthcoming. Any deals? I will also be needing some porterfield brake pads and engine and tranny mounts. And the blue Twisted "I" emblem. What kind of deal can I get. PM me.

Drak,

I've been bolting parts on my car that didn't make any difference at the track. Sigh.

I think I like posting better than wasting money. :-P

Aloha,
Richard...

P.S. I'd love to make it out to the track on Friday, but I'm not sure if the "ol' lady" is down for it. Will let you know! :-)
