If I buy a hood scoop from subaruparts.com, is it absolutely necessary that I buy the "attachment hardware" as well? I'll just end up taking the restrictor plate off anyway, do I really need to spend the extra money for it?

it depends if you have hardware you can re-use from your old scoop. I'm not sure if they're pop rivets or screws or bolts. I guess it really depends which type of hardware it uses.

Unless you want it to fly off the hood, yes. If you dont' care about losing it the first time you top 25mph, save the $10 http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

I wish it were only $10. Unfortunatly, it's nearly as much as the scoop itself.

Is that for the blocking plates though? They are expensive, yes, but you dont' HAVE to have them. The hardware for the scoop (nuts, bolts, and the plastic clip) is about $10.

What's this again?
I got the unpainted scoop and the complete vents (how does air flow through them ?) and a hood will soon be mine.
What's this extra piece again? It's true that something must go underneath the scoop, I just hadn't thought of it.
You wouldn't have a part number, would you?

Caron- Just responding to your air flow comment, air doesn't go in the vents, but out... they let some heat escape from the engine.

Yes, air does flow through the vents. If you look at the vents and their underpart, only 2 or 3 small holes are there for the heat to escape. I thought they would be bigger!
