View Full Version : can't wait any longer...dropping the WRX plan strongtower 06-14-2001, 06:37 AM the wait is killing me, as is the increase to my insurance. so.... i'm picking up a Mazda MP5 this weekend. i'll see y'all around! "zoom zoom" (God i hate those commercials!) gtguy 06-14-2001, 06:46 AM MP5...is that a Protege 5? If so, that's a cool little car. No shame in that, though you're shy about 100 horsepower to the Rex. How long has the wait been? I waited only five weeks for my silver wagon, and took a $56 per year insurance hike. Kevin jaybird 06-14-2001, 07:13 AM Where are you from and what did you have on order? Racer X 06-14-2001, 10:01 AM I was quoted only $63 a month for insurance from Allstate. That is $20 cheaper then my 99 Civic now. I am guess its because the Civic is on the top 5 list for stolen cars. Plus I turn 25 in a few months so it will go even lower. Dr. Zevil 06-14-2001, 10:35 AM Next week will be my eighth week.. I have too many sleepless nights invested in this to bail now.. mush on! Makin' me crazy. :p gumball 06-14-2001, 10:39 AM hey gtguy, are you serious, only a $56 hike per year from a 95-99 GT Wagon? hmmmmmm rlarose 06-14-2001, 10:54 AM I lucked out and only had to wait 2 days. Mine had just come off the boat when I placed the order. Someone had ordered the same way I did, but bailed. So I got theirs! gtguy 06-14-2001, 12:14 PM I kid you not, Gumball. The first estimate was +$90, but when the bill came, it was less than that. It's the other advantage to getting a first-year car...lower insurance because there's no loss history for the vehicle. Even if they hike you once guys start stuffing them into stuff this winter, your hike won't be as severe as someone getting into a new one and trying to insure it. And don't kid yourselves...guys WILL be tearing these cars up, especially people still on the RE92s in the slick stuff. Heck, guys were stuffing RSes, which don't have anywhere NEAR the capability to get you into trouble as the WRX. Think of it this way: the RS has less propensity for breaking the tires loose as you ascend the powerband. The WRX has more. Should be an interesting winter on i-Club. Kevin Sporin 06-14-2001, 12:24 PM Congrats, I want one too. (can't afford a WRX) :) It may be a a"performance" bargin, but the WRX is still a *LOT* of money. fwiw-- The production Protege5 is NOT referred to as the "MP5." There is the MP3 which is the hopped-up version of the Protege ES 2.0 Sedan. The Pro5 is just that.. a Pro5. Subie Gal 06-14-2001, 12:48 PM this really is not subaru related... it's zoom zoomish... moving to off topic ;) j. www.subiegal.com (http://www.subiegal.com) |
