What I must say is that, background and influences do play a huge role in who you grow up to be. Where you live, who you are in contact with, where you hang out... stuff like that. I was born in Hong Kong, and moved to San Francisco when I was 7. Trust me, if I didn't live here, I would not be who I am today. Most everyone that I've had the pleasure to be in contact with speak, dress, act, just like me, and this is why we're friends. You obviously have choices, but just think, if I was still in Hong Kong and didn't move over here till I was 18, (currently 20) I would not be who I am today.

I speak fluent e-bonics and show a strong side of ghettoness.. But still, it depends on who I'm around. I certianly don't act like this around my boss at work and don't act like this to anyone who I haven't had the chance to get to know better yet.

AzNuGn maybe instead of being so defensive, just change your style and fit in with the board. You are the late comer here and if you ever want information, feedback, help, services... Then you better learn to deal with people that don't act like the ones you normally see. Some people are less caring than this, but there are those that aren't... So the choice is yours.. I grew up in Berkeley, and went to Berkeley High which was only 40% white. My group of firends was (and still is) a mix of Asian, white, latino and black and we NEVER played the race card EVER! Shoot, even my prom date was black :)

One of the things I've always liked about the Bay Area is that people of different races and backgrounds seem to all live together in relative harmony.

Yea, well, that's because in high school, I used to kick it with a lot of aZn's who drive Honda Civics and CRX's with cut springs and loud exhausts. Man...that was just 4-5 years ago. He decided to go to school and get his education so he won't end up living the way he did forever. Was he a loser for doing that? Nope. Did he make the right choice by going to school? Yea. He decided to go to school and get his education so he won't end up living the way he did forever. Was he a loser for doing that? Nope. Did he make the right choice by going to school? Yea. Is he white? No, he's black. Does he "act" black? According to some peoples' supposed perception of "black", no, because he believes there's no such thing as "acting black". Yea, eventually he did move out to somewhere better and now he has a career as a school teacher. So how is his upbringing stopping him? He's never used it as an excuse not to achieve. I'm not talking crazy either, I'm making a point.

I wanted to be civil about it and said, "Alright, let's start over and do this again the right way." Instead, you tried to back me back into a corner and started shoving and coming at me like I was your enemy, then had the nerve to call everyone a "***". So what's the deal? C'mon, be real with me. I never said I could understand "you" as in, who you are. If you wanna talk that way, fine. It's just who you are, I'll accept it, but I can't say for everyone else. I was just saying man, I told you, I wasn't trying to force YOU to change who YOU are and cover up where you're coming from. Don't be surprised if some people don't take it as well as I do.

If they're not feelin' what you're saying, then they aren't. That don't mean you should start dissing them for that. You're no better than the people who make those remarks about you when you started calling people "white boys" and calling people "losers" just because some decided to have an education. You're just shutting out anyone who doesn't understand you and that right there gets you no respect unless you stop frontin' and talk to us so we'll be on the same page. You cool with that?
