What makes the '99 2.2L motor a 10.0:1 compression ratio? My '97 2.2L is a 9.7:1 compression ratio. If I wanted the same compression ratio as the '99 2.2L, what changes would I have to do? Change the gasket, pistons, both? Thanks!

I was wondering how the '99 gained a little more horsepower and torque.

Without comparing part #s I'm not sure about the pistons, but the '99 is a Phase II (camcase design, much larger valves). I'll have both motors apart next week and I'll try to take some pics of the differances.

'99 - 2.2L = 10.0/1
'99 - 2.5L = 9.7/1
2000 - 2.5L = 10.0/1
