SPO sets the standard for customer service that other vendors should strive for. They did things to make me happy that I never expected them to do. I would purchase from them again in a second.

Is that just a rummor that Scott sold it or is it fact? I liked working with that guy. He really knows his stuff. As for everyone else at SPO... They are the most friendly and helpfull people Iv'e had the chance to work with in the industry. I recamend them to anyone who has a Subaru.

OK, last August I purchased their Adjustable Rear Sway Bar Kit before it officially went into production. I got a great deal at $225 or $250 because I called the week before they got the first bar back from the manufacturer and they wanted me to test it out for them and give comments (keep this in mind when I mention product quality). Skip down a couple paragraphs if you just want the service details.

The bar was described as a 19-21" bar with heavy duty mounts, droplinks and bushings. All were supposedly zinc coated to keep from rusting. When I received the product, there was metal flashing all over the droplinks so the bushings couldn't be inserted and the droplinks were raw metal painted gold, not zinc coated.

After about an hour with a file and a Dremel tool, I finally got the bushings inserted and rotating smoothly. Everything installed in about two hours because of some fitment problems and the fact that there were no instructions on how to tear apart the rear end and remove the carbon filter and fuel filler line to get at the heavy duty mount points. On top of that, the bolts that were supplied were crossthreaded and unusable so I had to reuse a lot of the OEM hardware.

Also, since the droplink bushings and swaybar mount holes are much larger than both the OEM hardware and supplied bolts, there is thumping from the droplinks shifting every time the car turns or hits a bump. Annoying, but so be it.

Now, here are where the real problems started. Come Spring when I inspected the rear end, I noticed that the bushings were completely dryrotted and shredded. I reinstalled the OEM droplinks and called SPO Motorsports before the new owner took over, explained the situation and was told by the old owner that new bushings would be sent out that week. Two weeks went by, no bushings.

I called again to ask about the bushings on a Friday. I was told they would be shipped out on Monday. Two weeks went by, no bushings. I called again, the old owner forgot who I was and I refreshed his memory. He apologized and said they'd be shipped out that day. Three days later, I finally received the bushings.

Jump ahead two months...I finally had time to install the new bushings. Upon inspecting the old SPO droplinks they were completely rusted frozen, coated in rust, and the urethane bushings were rusted in place! It took over an hour with a hammer, chisel and Leatherman to get the bushings out.

I fired an email to SPO with a long winded complaint and basically said, "fix it, send me new droplinks or lose me as a customer." Two weeks later I received a response saying, "we've forwarded your request to the manufacturer."

A month went by and I fired another nasty email to SPO asking what was going on with my request. I received an immediate callback from the new owner saying that this situation was news to him and asked me how he could help me. After explaining the situation, he apologized profusely, said that he was the new owner and "things have changed." A week later I finally had a complete set of used droplinks in my hands (I agreed to used parts over the phone so he didn't have to break up a new kit).

Unfortunately, the new hardware he shipped that properly fits the droplink bushings is too large to fit through the droplink mount points on both the swaybar and the suspension so I was still forced to use stock hardware so the swaybar still thumps like crazy. At some point I'll run out and get new hardware, so no big deal.

So, long story short, the new owner has restored my faith in SPO Motorsports and I will definitely buy from them again in the future if I ever need something that they stock.

I bought H&R springs from them over a year ago. They called right after I got a tracking number to let me know that they had shipped Impreza springs instead of Legacy springs. They told me to refuse the initial tracking number from UPS, and they shipped the Legacy springs right away. They made it here the day after I refused the other shipment. Very helpful, very honest (oops, we made a mistake), and good products.

I recently ordered the 3-way adjustable rear swaybar kit from them as well. I received an e-mail right away letting me know that my order had been received. Initially, I was kind of in a hurry for it, so by the end of the week I called. He let me know that the bars were on backorder, and they were waiting for their supplier to manufacture some more. The wait should be just a week or two. Okay, no biggie, I guess I won't be in a hurry for the bar anymore. I kinda wish that I could've gotten an e-mail notification of the backorder. Well, it eventually took about 5 weeks to get the kit, with me calling two more times to doublecheck on the status. One nice thing is they did not charge my credit card until the unit was shipped. I appreciate that, because I've had it done the other way before. So, I finally get the bar, and my only real complaint is that it has no instructions with it. With a little searching, and some others providing pictures of their installation, I was able to figure it out and get it installed. SPO sent me instructions promptly after I called and left a message. ( I just didn't want to wait!) My kit is all zinc plated, and had all the hardware. Very, very nice kit. The car has been transformed. I live in Oklahoma, so the salt and corrosion shouldn't be much of a problem, but I'll keep an eye on it come next spring. (Oh yeah, I got the JTCC style shift knob at the same time. Very nice)

Overall, I'd give SPO Motorsports a big "thumbs up".

I've had good dealings with SPO.

My first purchase was a weapon-R intake a couple of years ago. I was installing it on the weekend and had a question, so I e-mailed SPO and Scott called me personally during the week and asked me if everything was ok and we chit chatted about what products I was looking for and products that were in the works.

Last year I ordered the Borla Headers and Borla Exhaust from SPO. I got the headers in a few weeks (Canada), but I had to wait for over two months for the Exhaust because it was back-ordered from Borla (the exhaust was actually shipped directly from Borla care of SPO). There was some confusion when I called SPO, but that's because they changed owners and had to search for my order. However, when I opened the box, there was NO MIDPIPE! The SPO website specified a Cat-Back exhaust. I called Borla and they said they didn't make it for the 95-99 models, only 2000-up. I called SPO up and talked to Steve Rollin (the new owner) and he verified the error on the site (which has been changed). So the only complaint I have is that I had to go get a custom midpipe made for my exhaust system, which is not stainless. If I knew it wasn't a complete cat back, I probably would have looked into other exhaust kits. But I love the sound of the Borla system.

P.S. Does anybody know of any shops in Canada (Toronto) that sell Subaru Performance Parts? I'm sicking of paying all those crazy expensive brokerage fees at the border.

Chris.

I have talked to the new owner and unfortunatly he has not improved the buisness. He has just added it to his existing buisness and does not plan to expand or improve it. He would not continue the order I had in with Scott and would not help me at all get my part that was on order through Scott.

Scott and his biltch wife Kara would not even contact the new owner and help me get my part. Scott even told the new owner I did not have an order in. (the order was in with Scott for months with up to ten phone conversations with him about it)

SPO were not honest with customers anyway they misleading with their products and even boasted about it to the wrong people.

Stay away from SPO!!

Steve is a great guy. Patient and knowledgeable. Parts came when promised, and seem to be real quality.

I'll second that! Ordered a lot of stuff from SPO during the past year, and the quality, price, and delivery was outstanding.

I was originally trying to find out what the shipping costs were for some borla headers, ended up accidently ordering them instead. I called shortly thereafter and explained the situation and Steve was understanding. He told me the shipping costs and told me to call him back if I wanted to order them. I called the next day and gave him the O-K. They arrived a week later (despite it being a thanksgiving weekend). Thanks SPO.
