View Full Version : Chalk-up one more on the list of keyed imprezas
Mike C 04-05-2001, 11:51 AM After reading everyone elses, I sadly add my car to the list of damaged subies.
After my class this morning, I walk by my car only to see that some
<vent mode>
f#$% ^@#$!##$ !@#!@#!@$@#$@#%!#$%#%$ %$%^% ^%@DW#@%@#@#$$ %$#!%(&*^^ %#^$#R^@##$!@&% person, keyed both sides of my car: all four doors, and above my passenger-side side-marker up on to the hood, down to the metal.
AAGGHHH!!!!!! I reported it to campus police, but all they can do is put it on file.
</vent mode>
Now, looking forward.. What can be done to fix this? Does the whole car need to be repainted?? Can anyone offer some advice?
Thanks,
-Mike-
Subie Gal 04-05-2001, 11:54 AM sigh...

mtnfreak 04-05-2001, 02:07 PM That sucks!
I live in your neck of the woods and had my car's passenger side broken at the Park and Ride near your campus. And the idiots did not even take anything...AARGH!
Good luck. Sounds like you will need to get a new paint job.
AccidenT 04-05-2001, 02:31 PM Be sure to get your sideskirts painted in the process.
Maybe some spats and a bumper lip, too?
You have to look @ the bright side of things, i guess. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
vel0city 04-05-2001, 03:18 PM my friend drives a subaru forester 2000...27k is what he paid for it..
he got his hood keyed up (3 pretty long marks) on his hood in high school parking lot...he now gets to park in teh teacher's parking lot which is like right next to the office which is pretty sweet...
i have a pretty good idea its the stupid white trash (no offense to anyone but the people who did it) rednecks who drive raised trucks at my school...they are jealous that his car is loud (he has exhaust and intake and a bumping system) and fast so they have spit on his car before and now they keyed it..
bucnh of losers
sigh... sorry to hear that. But it happened to me too, that time b4 I went to do repaint, I went to Walmart and got a tube of GT-88, it works pretty well covering the part where the metal have not been reach, where else I have to rub harder to unscratch the rest. After that, remember to wax the places that have been covered. G'luck!!
wcbjr 04-05-2001, 03:31 PM with all the paint missing from chips, you'd think mines been keyed...
sorry about your car. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif
Godmal 04-05-2001, 03:34 PM Try buffing it, maybe its not to the metal after all.http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
TaiChih 04-05-2001, 09:21 PM Don't waste your time buffing it. Look on the bright side and get your car painted anthracite. I saw it once somewhere on a UK Impreza. It looks so VICIOUS! If I had the opportunity to get my car painted at insurance expenses, hell get it custom color painted. Just make sure you go to a reputable paint shop that strips everything and then paints it. None of this forget to paint the door jams. I've had a red CRX that was painted silver and they did a half-a$$ job and GOOD FROM FAR, BUT FAR FROM GOOD!
jhayzhon 04-06-2001, 05:24 AM Sorry to hear bout that dood. Did you park around the dorms? I'm betting whoever did that lives on campus so if you're willing to walk an extra 10 minutes park it on the loop or lot 9...anywhere away from the dorms. Dorming students get bored so its better not to let your car become a target for them.
D-WRX 04-06-2001, 08:54 AM Keying someone's car is the most ultimate cowardly act anyone can do. If someone has a problem, they should confront the person, not be a wus and take it out on their property. It just means they are jealous, imature, brainless and afraid. Besides, in this day and age of micro cameras which are easily placed in and around a car, you'd think some people would be a little smarter than that. I've already heard of several instances where people were caught this way. Can you say fine and possible jail time??? Not to mention that vandalism is usually covered 100% through insurance (it is for me), so you just gave that person a custom paint job for free! (and acutally the scumb bag will also be paying for it indirectly with higher insurance premiums for their own vehicle(s) because of it).
I've got just one thing to say to those people....GROW UP!
Hope everything works out for you ok.

subymamma 04-06-2001, 08:55 AM Those campus lots are livin hell on nice cars.
Yeah, anthracite.... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
Ooooh, baby!!!!
brainrally 04-06-2001, 02:27 PM Believe it or not, something happened to my 1994 Chevy Cavalier when I was going to college. It wasn't keyed, I'm not sure what it was. Looked like something heavy was dropped on the fender and rolled down the hood. By the looks of it, it could have been an accident, but you'd think the person would be decent enough to leave a note. It left a dent and chipped the paint.
So who would care enough to damage a Cavalier? I guess that's why I assumed accidental damage.

Mr.Preza 04-06-2001, 04:22 PM Well...You can plop my name down on that list today, as of 3:2? today, i walked out of my local performance part store only to see a nice line going from my left front headlight to my tail light. I now call it my racing stripe and I am very pissed off at the litte SH8T HEAD Piece Of Trash that did this! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Reiflex 04-06-2001, 05:16 PM NOOOOOOO!!!
sorry guys!
Kostamojen 04-07-2001, 01:47 AM Man, Campus parking lots are the WORST! My old car got hit while it was there by some truck (could tell it was a truck or something raised cause of the height up the car) and nothing I could do about it! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/mad.gif
My suggestion: Get a car cover, it might save your ass from stuff like this!
RallyImprezive 04-07-2001, 10:33 AM My car got pretty thrashed once....still is. Some @sshole kicked in the driver side fender and keyed the driver side of the car. Really pisses me off because I can't really file anymore insurance claims. I kinda over did it with the "white fence vs Green Subaru" incident. And then the "Sand dune vs Impreza" I am afraid to go and get any more reports filed. I dunno, maybe I should. I also have a LOT of gravel damage just from driving around town in the winter...the pumic is horrible for your rocker panels. Anyone think that is valid...(the kicked in panel, the key scratch, and the gravel damage?) I have comprehensive with AAA. Thanx
-Andy
iBlueVirus 04-07-2001, 12:32 PM people just LOVE to be and @$$ some time. I got key too. Hope you have a low detectable on your insurance...
Mike C 04-07-2001, 09:55 PM Well..........
I talked to my parents (insured under their name), and we have a waay high deductable.
Time to resort to touch-up paint http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif oh well, at least rust won't get to it, but it still sucks a whole bunch.
Actually I thought about a car cover, but in my opinion its just begging to be messed with. For now, I'll just park it in the garage away from the dorms. I shouldn't have to do this, but its the best alternative I've got.
Stupid people suck
