I was told this following procedure by Link USA and it seems to be fairly inline with what others have their maps setup too.
First of you need a baseline knock number. To get that let your car sit in idle, start logging, and then rev the engine up to 5500rpm range as quickly as it can. Look in the log and see what your highest knock value was = normal engine noise. THis is what you use as a base.
Then from there I had a starting rpm of 2500 with 20 increment from there. So far it seems to work just fine. This actually detects little spikes and non-audiable knock quite a bit. Like last night for instance, I was cruising up to Denver on the interstate and I would hit full boost 17-18psi at around 3200rpm and up. The Link detected a little spike of 70... this was in the context of 45,50,70,55, 54 type of range in the log. Don't know if this is detonation but tyipcially you want to watch for spikes in your knock values.
Hope this helps a little and if anyone disagrees with what I said or has anything else to add I would be all ears.
