First time I have ever managed to get stuck.

Check out the link for more pics and a great action shot with me splashing through a little creek.

Ever consider a Scorpion lift kit? Does anyone in here have one?

I don't have the money, but I have looked at them.

I don't think it would have helped me in this case though. My friend nearly buried his truck pulling me off.

I gotta go to the car wash to try and get some of this crap out from under my car and check for damage. I hope nothing serious is broken.... actually if nothing serious is broken I think I am going to write SOA an email. Going to have to send it anonymously though... can't have them voiding my warranty or anything.

Wow..thats impressive. Scorpion springs would lift it about 2 more inches without a kit...just a thought.

I try and carry my digital camera in the car at all times (you never know...)

This was totally spur of the moment, I was driving home from augusta (45 min) and instead of the interstate I took the back way and noticed this little trail. So I turned around it turned into a very very long trail. I got stuck about two miles into it and had to walk up to the road before I could get cell phone reception.

I now have to figure out some way to pound the floor back into its original configuration.

I am very surprised that there was no damage other than that. Exhaust has a slight dent, but my stromung is already on the way.

Those skid plates are tough mofos!

I washed and waxed the car, even got it up on ramps at the car wash and washed its belly!

I then went to my driveway and used two coats of Zymol and polished the wheels and trim really well. I figure the car deserved it.

Definatly going to have to write SOA a letter. Maybe I can get published in Drive magazine!

EDIT:

PS- I wouldn't say I am 'Hard Core' More like 'Hard Headed'. This was a stupid thing to do (getting up that hill at that point).

The sad thing is I am going to have to get up there now. I think I found another way up.

But *not* gonna try that for awhile.

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen an Outback wagon dohttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif Even hardcore off roaders know they're going to get stuck eventually... that's why most have winches. You just have the testicularity to get stuck in a Subaru wagon... to even take it off pavement. Just think... you're doing in a car what most people DON'T do in their $40K Land Rovers that were designed for it. I give you two big thumbs up.

Cool! Yeah, you need a lift kit http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif. I've even seriously considered one on my RS just to be different. lessee...I played the role of a dumb floridian loking at a snow covered colorado trail. The results were the first dings in my pretty RS. Shoulda read the manual...It does better sliding on dirt roads at 60mph http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lildevil.gif At least that'll mangle it right, dangit http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif!

I wouldn't mind one of those kits but they are kinda pricey and I am worried it would affect the handling in a negative way on pavement (although they would have to try pretty hard to make it worse than the stock outback suspension...).

Here are more photos of the various scorpion lifts http://www.powerup.com.au/~colfam/photos.htm

I think those lifted subarus look kinda funny without larger tires on them.

I do not think a rear LSD would have gotten me out as both rear wheels were spinning freely in the air. Knobbier tires probably would have made a difference though... these rainforce tires turn into racing slicks after a bit of mud get caked in 'em.

Thanks for all the comments! I didn't buy my Outback to drive it around on pavement all the time and I'm glad I have finally gotten up the nerve to go hunting for some decent trails. Wish I had made a better tire choice for offroad though...

And I am sure I will have more stupid offroad pics to show eventually.

I never got THAT high-centered, but I definitely got myself scared once. Thats what I get for driving around an abandoned lot full of 3' grass. *shrug*

Maybe you need a set of airbags, and just keep them deflated at all times and only inflate them when you go to off-road. I don't think that'd effect on-road performance that much.

Apparently the Outback bumper flexes quite a bit. I didn't actually hit anything head-on but the bumper was dragged a bit.

Flexed enough to make a mess outta my nice DIY grill! Luckily I have some more gutter guard at home, hehe.
