Looks like Petter is driving this car. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

Ok, when we all buy this we are going to have an I-Club WRC Series. This would be sooooooo cool. I have to think how to set it up. Any ideas?

That is the info from Codemasters US website. Colin McRae Rally 2.0 will be out in Feb '01 sometime for PC.

I couldn't wait so I ordered it from the Codemasters UK website. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

I already got CM2.0 for the PC.

Its pretty good. The PlayStation graphics cant even compete.

The only problem is its pretty buggy. I find if you've been playing for about 30 minutes, you need to restart your computer, otherwise the graphics get all choppy. Thats the only thing I havent solved on it yet.

Count me in!! I've been playing it for the last 3 hours and I don't even play Playstation( or any video games) much. What an awesome awesome awesome game!!! Flames shooting inbetween shifts and on deceleration, whining of the dogbox, bumpers dragging and sparking along the ground, hoods and trunks flapping in the wind, spoilers getting ripped off...I LOVE IT !

Regardless if you are a video game fan, if you are a rally fan, GET THIS GAME!

The only thing I have not a clue on earth about, is why in the hell does Ned Jarrett( yes, of NASCAR) give the introduction before each of the different rallies? David Richards would have made a great commentator!

Still a total blast of a game.

Care to tell us where you found the pc version? Sure its V2, and not v1?
All sources say its not out yet AFAIK

the game has been out for over a year already in the UK.

Codies have been having US distributon problems so all their best games are getting delayed releases here, (you can't release Colin1 then release Colin2 straight after or people get pissed!) Similar story with TOCA1 and 2.

But I think the US version is going to be better, I'll find out from my friend Dave (Codies guy) whether the US version is better - I believe it will be. Stay tuned....

An I-Club WRC.....hmmmmmmmmmm!
that would be cool!
Online gaming?
What do you say guys. I'm with Mel.
You could get times and post them by screen shots but I know you photo shop guys. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
Do a multiplay game and have a score keeper or have each person in that game write down eveyones time. E-mail them to a score keeper to compare to check to see if they watch and setup a list of times and to see who can get the best times.

Yea, I've had it for almost a month now. Kicks butt. The cars don't handle as well as the first version though, but it's still a good buy. Here's a little advice:

In the first version, Colin McRae was on the Subaru team. Therefore, the Impreza was THE best car (in the default set) to drive. Surprise, surprise...the Focus is now the best performer in the 2nd version. Probably followed by the EVO, then the Impreza. The game is pretty damn hard in "Advanced" difficulty though, so it takes a bit of practice.

Oh, thing I forgot to say about this game's fatal flaw:

ANNOUNCED BY NED JARRETT!!!!!!!!

What on earth?!?!?!? WRC meets tractor pull??? It's really the only weak part of the game. But it's a really big weak part.

i love this game, but it runs kinda crappy on my machine, and I have no clue why. I have a Duron 650, 128MB RAM, and a Rage Fury video. There's no reason it should be choppy... doh!

uniballer
04-03-2001, 04:15 PM
Is that an old school is it a rage fury max?

Either way, that is kinda old tech. Make sure you dumb down the graphics settings

start at 640x480, then get advanced and make sure you disable things like environment mapping (huge perf killer).

I would be glad to help you out, let me know.

I would, however, suggest a video card upgrade as well. Nvidia GeForce 2 GTS based cards are very affordable these days, and quite a compitent card as well.

lemme know. (I work on a website that reviews games and game hardware, I have some expertise here I promise).

Yeah, when I heard his voice, I thought, "What the hell!!!" It's like I accidentally picked up NASCAR or something. I was expecting to hear Grist...

So, when's this I-club CMR2.0 Rally?

Hey, I have an HP PIII 800 mhz with 128M and an "integrated AGP video card"...I'm kinda worried about how it'll work with that video card. How do you think it'll perform?

uniballer
04-03-2001, 08:09 PM
Hey biz, your integrated video card is probably intel's little attempt at cheap AGP graphics (either the i810 or i815 chipset). If so, It uses system memory instead of it's own dedicated ram. Performance will be questionable at best.

My suggestion is find out if you have an available AGP slot (the i810 does not so I am thinking you don't).

There are some very good PCI cards available for you to consider though.

I would suggest a PCI card based on Nvidia's GeForce2MX Chipset as a good all around card. I do beleive there is a PCI ATi Radeon which should be good too. Then there is always the PCI Voodoo Series of cards which would be very affordable and a great solution if the company that made them hadn't closed up shop (that means no future driver support). http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Good luck.

CodeMonkey, lets get one started.

if you have a pc, are a rally fan, and love your scooby..

Do yourself a favor, go buy a force feedback steering wheel, and Colin McRae Rally 2.0.

Here are some shots from the game, uniballer style.

<IMG SRC="http://fullon3d.com/reports/cmr2/impreza.cmr2.1.jpg" border=0>

<IMG SRC="http://fullon3d.com/reports/cmr2/impreza.cmr2.2.jpg" border=0>

<IMG SRC="http://fullon3d.com/reports/cmr2/impreza.cmr2.8.jpg" border=0>

Those shots are not Resampled. They were taken at 640x480 with 2x Full Scene Antialiasing (courtesy of Nvidia's GeForce2 Ultra).

If you didn't understand that last line, that's okay, it is super secret computer gamer code for KICK ASS GRAPHICS.

LOVE THE GAME!

Hey y'all,

I realize this is an old thread but I'm looking for some help and feedback (no pun intended). I just picked up CMR 1.0 at a software store for the dirt cheap price (to me) of $5. I'm just this side of 40 yrs. old and have fat fingers, so using the arrow keys on my keyboard to control a rally car doesen't strike me as a viable option. Does anyone have any advice on the best force feedback wheel to use with this game?

Thanks from an older i-clubber,
Ed

If you've got the $ (120, to be specific), I recomend the Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel. You can change the amount of force, sensitivity, and dead zone for each game. Very rugged design, and the clamping mechanism is easy to use. You can also turn off the force on the fly, but I'm not sure why you'd bother. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif

Worth every penny.

I actually prefer the Logitech WingMan Formula Force PC Racing Wheel. Its also a bit cheaper ($99).

I have the Logitech wheel, too. I think I got mine for about $80. One thing I should mention, though... I haven't actually noticed any force-feedback effects in this game. Maybe it's just me. If I'm right, though, you might consider just getting a *non* force-feedback wheel. I've seen them for as little as $35.

Thank you all. I see 2 votes for Logitech (including 1 "it may not even matter"), 1 for MS. I'll shop around on the web for best price on each. If I can learn to master CMR 1.0 maybe I'll move on to more sophisticated racing games, so I'll likely buy one or the other. Then again I wasn't raised on video games and my reflexes might not be a sharp as you twentysomethings' http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif so it may take me a while.

PS: Sorry for the double post - I didn't do it on purpose, honest.

Okay, I shopped around and found a Logitech for $82 from nxgen.com with $20 rebate. Works for me - seems like the most bang for the buck.

Thanks,

Ed-
I got the force-feedback working the other night. I had to turn on "Fast Force Feedback Update" in the options, and voila! My wrists are a little sore from trying to keep the car on the courses, but It's alot more fun http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif

OK here is my 5 cents worth ...

Most FF wheels are pretty good now a days...

However ... I`d STRONGLY advise you to get a Act Labs Force RS - they sell an H-pattern shifter - and soon they will add a clutch pedal - works great in Rally Championship as well as Grand Prix legends.

http://www.act-labs.com

It doesn`t get any better than that. ;-)

Strong force feedback motor, comfortable wheel, heavy pedals so they don`t slide around , independant axis for the brake, throttle and clutch - if you don`t have independant axis you floor the throttle and brake and it interprets this as no throttle and no brake rather than max of both.

Downside - it is a little more expensive than some of the competition - and the clutch and Shifter are optional extras - but trust me it`s worth it - I`ve been through 3 or 4 wheels now - this one is a keeper.

Feel free to email me with any geek questions.... and that goes for everyone here - I`m a certified nerd ;-)

Git,

I'm not a certified nerd and cost was a factor. If I ever geek out on rally sims maybe I'll go for the Act Labs RS, but $140-150 vs. $82 + rebate for the Logitech sealed the deal for me. That's $60-70 I can put into the Forester - a strut brace, suspension bushings or 2 - 2 1/2 tanks of gas.

Thanks for the input just the same - I'll file it in the mental Rolodex.

Ed
