Just wanted to pass along some info about my recent purchase of the 2002 WRX Sedan. First of all, my salesmen was Ralph Vanover at Hatfield Subaru (I-270 & Georgesville Rd). Let me tell you that Ralph was/is great! Everything went as planned, no B.S. just a wonderful experience overall. I recommend to anyone considering a purchase of a Subaru (any model) to contact Ralph. I financed the car through First Service Credit Union (www.firstcu.com). They are running a special right now of 6.99% for up to 72 months. Great people to work with. As you can tell, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and finance experience. Just thought I would pass the info on to potential WRX buyers.

Greg,
Congrats on your new baby! Hatfield is OK to buy your car. Just don't go back there for service. Their "technicians" are morons and would rather be working on an Isuzu or Hyundai.

Byers has the best service center in Columbus. They have dedicated Subaru technicians who ONLY work on Subarus. Plus, for some strange reason they give nice discounts on most work.

I had my '98 OBS into Hatfield five times for brake problems when she was brand new. They just couldn't get it right so I ended up doing the work myself. Then on another trip, they forgot to put the bracket back on my battery so my battery was flying all over the front of the engine compartment. THAT could have been disasterous.

Anyone else have bad experiences with Hatfield?

Haven't had any service experiences with either, but my sales experience at Byers was great. Spoke with the service manager, and he 'seemed' very, very professional, and the parts guy was all business. Will reserve judgement for the first trip, however!

Thanks for the info on the Service Dept. I guess it just all depends on who you get as a salesmen. I'll admit that I wouldn't want to deal with some of the sales guys at Hatfield, but Ralph was a good one. Looks like Byers it is for service. Thanks again!

We almost went to Hatfield but Byers was much closer.....and the little dirt track Byer's has next to the sales lot looks mighty tempting.....muhooohahahahah.

Dan Jr. was pretty friendly to us and was all stoked after he came back from AZ for the dealer drive. Then we also talked to the guy with the 555 painted car and Minax huffer....seems like they are all somewhat enthusiasts.

Then I go and visit Santa Monica Subaru this weekend in Los Angeles. They had a yellow sedan still for sale on the floor. They wnated 26K for it (had it printed on the sticker!).

I also saw that WRB sedan with the sunroof. They wanted 1700 more for that "option." Egads, and they didn't even bother puttin a cage back into it!!!

Still waiting for my wagon.....

Narcotix,
Was the black wagon on Byers showroom floor an auto? Is that why you have one on order? I noticed that someone bought the black sedan that was up on the ramp display out front. Now they have a Mazda Tribute up there. Looks like the silver WRX is still there.

The service writer at Byers is pretty honest. I took my OBS in once to the one on the East side because I thought the timing belt tensioner may have been failing. He put his ear down there and said, don't worry about it. He said that if they had to do a diagnostic they would have had to charge me, but he said that they all make the sound I was referring too, but that if it noisier to bring it back in. I appreciated him saving me $50. They also replaced the glass in my power mirror after I scratched it with a scraper. The guys at Hatfield said I would have to replace the WHOLE mirror unit! Geesh!
