View Full Version : subaruparts.com == fraud???
renduy 05-07-2001, 06:16 PM Anyone used subaruparts.com to order anything? I decided to try them (stupidly without doing my homework.)
I ordered a filter kit from them for about $50 (air conditioning/heating air filter.)
I get an immediate reply that they're working on my order, but nothing else comes in.
A week later I get a significantly larger charge from a German direct marketing company... (I did not do this.)
I still can't get in touch with subaruparts.com via phone or email. Anyone else used them?
You are protected, don't worry. All you need to do is call your credit card, and tell them that it's a fraudulent charge. You won't have to pay it if the amount isn't want you agreed on.

kaos200 05-07-2001, 06:21 PM I had a great experience with them, Bought something, recieved a payment notification and another message later that my item had been shipped...
then my items arrived as promised, promptly and intact...
I personally doubt the 2 are connected,... but check up on it... You did debate the larger charge right?
renduy 05-07-2001, 06:21 PM Thanks Loki, I'm doing that, but I'm just trying to make sure others don't go to this site if it really is just a scummy credit card sucker.

I don't know what happened there but subaruparts.com has a very good reputation here. Maybe someone got a hold of your CCN?
SkToBe 05-07-2001, 06:23 PM Subaruparts.com is a reputable company. It is actually the parts department for Tacoma Nissan/Subaru in Tacoma Washington. I can assure you that they did not put that charge on your card.
Darwin 05-07-2001, 06:24 PM Subaruparts.com is great. never had any problems.
renduy 05-07-2001, 06:27 PM Glad to hear that they're good. My other card charge does sound like it's unrelated.
STILL... why can't I get in touch with those guys at subaruparts.com??? I've tried quite a few times by phone and email (ensuring when I called them that it was during their business hours.)
I don't like these guys so far. I didn't like them even before I thought they might be related to this credit card charge. Their unresponsiveness has made me quite upset.
b_tapper 05-07-2001, 06:31 PM Subaruparts.com is great they even answered all of my stupid questionshttp://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
BrysImpreza 05-07-2001, 06:33 PM Renduy, it sounds like you've been hacked... Not by Subaruparts.com , but it sounds like you have a B.O.T. (Back Over Transfer) on your computer, it's a type of virus that sends info to a third party rather then the destination you thought you were sending it to (In this case, Subaruparts.com)
This way people can get your Credit Card Numbers, Passwords and Personal Info.
MAKE SURE TO GET A GOOD VIRUS-SCAN PROGRAM AND A FIREWALL ASAP if this is the case.
Not McAfee, it sucks.
Get it taken care of before something like what happened to me happens (it's really not fun)
Or it could be something else, that's just my very educated guess on the subject.
Langit 05-07-2001, 06:34 PM yeah I agree with most of you..subaruparts is great..
I ordered couple times from them and got the stuff in about a week..
regarding the unresponsiveness..I emailed them and within a day or two got a reply..
never experienced any unresponsiveness problem here
renduy 05-07-2001, 06:41 PM Well, I guess they just decided to screw with me or something...
As for the virus, I use Macs and Unix boxen. I'm a sysadmin and know my machines like the back of my hand. I have a hardware firewall that also filters viruses... so if my credit card was grabbed, it wasn't from my machine, but from some site out there (hopefully not subaruparts.com. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/pirate.gif )

BigElm 05-07-2001, 06:45 PM Renduy:
Everyone else mentioned to you the obvious reason for your fraudulent (sp?) charge...
But I can vouch for Subaruparts.com.
Scott is very reputable and they are very, very busy...
Try calling them when they open or early morning...they are very busy during the rest of the day....
I've encountered busy signal sometimes but I learned to call early morning and I always get through...http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
Good luck!
Yeah, my dealings with subarparts.com went very smoothly, and received my products in a timely fashion..Plus the price was right http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
BrysImpreza 05-07-2001, 09:17 PM Hmmm Mac and UNIX, you're safe in that regard, the only OS that is crap is Windows, I was hoping to have an easy explanation for what happened, ah well... Good luck
Frey Bone 05-07-2001, 11:02 PM I dont know why you are having trouble getting in touch with them. I've ordered a bunch of things over the past few months, and they have always been cool. And as others have said they have answered a bunch of tech questions without even batting an eye.
are you gett ing an answering service/machine? or nothing at all. Are you dialing the right # (not that I think youre not, but hey...I'm pretty dumb so I had to ask)
HoratioCaine 05-07-2001, 11:22 PM STILL... why can't I get in touch with those guys at subaruparts.com???
Yeah. I'm laughing my arse off.
It took Scott and crew over six weeks to return a simple "DO YOU SELL THIS" email to me. They're pioneers of poor service in my book.
But they're also a reputable business offering parts at excellent prices. Send Scott an email saying you've contacted me and we're going to drag his name through the mud over here. I got a response very quickly when I mentioned that the first time I had trouble getting in touch with him.
He also goes by Partsace here. You can PM him.
kunfuzion 05-07-2001, 11:46 PM i too can vouch for subaruparts.com. i ordered a guage pod from them a while ago. got it within 2 weeks, recieved emails when ordered and when shipped. customer service isn't the best, but they are one of the fastest online companies i know of.
jeff
snowone 05-07-2001, 11:48 PM I've ordered from them and had no problems whatsoever. Got my stuff within 3 biz days.
Let them know what's up... seems odd that you're running into hassles.

What about that German porno site you were telling me about? Could that be it? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif
It had something to do with hot bratwurst and.........

kkeetha 05-08-2001, 01:13 AM Ordered soem OEM parts from them and never had any problem. Since I live in WA, I get 5 dollars flat shipping cost for whatever I order. Scott is cool. Met him in person 2!
cakagan 05-08-2001, 08:16 AM If you've followed any of the other threads about subaruparts.com, you'd have called them first to make sure it's in stock. I had to order a driver's side mirror for my RS, so I called them up. They needed to order it, so I gave them my card number and waited. I received the part in less than a week, including ordering it from Subaru's factory. Not bad, I'd say. Your results may vary...

Subie Gal 05-08-2001, 08:27 AM those guys suck at answering their phones...
or emails...
sorry.. but i've called... and been put on hold for over 10 mins... when they KNEW that i was calling and what i was calling for...
so they're busy?
so what!! get more help...
or the consumer will move on...
good prices... but only if you can get through to place your order... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif
forget it.. i got my stuff somewhere else.
j. www.subiegal.com (http://www.subiegal.com)
I ordered a bunch of stuff from them. I called in my order, just use the 1-800 number. I talked to Scott directly. They have the same prices whether you order from the internet or over the phone. And Scott is a great guy to talk too, not just a salesman.
ANZAC_1915 05-08-2001, 08:38 AM I'd agree they're really hard to get hold of but once I talk to Scott he takes care of my order pronto.
I have had more luck with the direct dealership number 253 473 6200 and asking for Scott.
Glenn
Do they have a physical location? Isn't that Tacoma Subaru?
Subie Gal 05-08-2001, 08:49 AM yes... Tacoma Nissan Subaru...

credit xtc 05-08-2001, 11:17 AM Be careful you were working with subaruparts.com and not subaru-parts.com two different companies. I made this rookie mistake. When I cleared things up it was the former company in Tacoma that I wanted and I ordered several items with no problems, just slow like all WRX suppliers at this point in time.
steve_d 05-08-2001, 12:03 PM just got my timing belt, water pump, and gaskets...
It took a couple of days for the order to be processed, and I started to worry. Then I went to rally school and the parts shipped out on the thursday I left. they got to my house yesterday...
i'm pleased.

Impreza25RS 05-08-2001, 07:38 PM I agree with Subie Gal. I got all my parts...eventually...but they never answered any of my questions. They suck at returning e-mails and picking up there phone. I was pretty pissed off when I ordered my parts 2 day shipping and got it 2 weeks later...not cool in my book. There prices are pretty damn good on a positive note though.

renduy 05-08-2001, 07:58 PM Well, looks like subaruparts.com has some mixed reviews. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/blackeye.gif
I did finally get in touch with them by email (GIANT CAPS WITH LOTS OF ********** HELPS)
C. Scott Williams:
<<Talk about one that fell through the crack. Your order was received but
never processed. I have processed it today and will be sending it out
shortly.>>
ps. about subaru-parts.com... what experience do people have with them?
pps. credit company is sending me a new card. joy.
HoratioCaine 05-08-2001, 08:02 PM Wow.
C. Scott Williams:

That's pretty much what I got. I ordered the short shifter online and got the confirmation email.. then no shifter, and my card was never billed. When Scott FINALLY answered my emails, he said that a bunch of online orders dissapeared into lala land.
