Don't take your car to Discount Tire with a big "Tire Rack" windshield banner... Joy took the ITR in today for tires and heard everyone in the back yelling about it. It was all in good fun, but they really gave her a hard time. Of course she used the opportunity to put in a pitch for sponsership... hehehe...

We put Dunlop SP 5000's on it, in a 205/50-15. I'll give you guys a review in a few weeks.

Hey Eric,

Is that the stock size for the ITR? My del sol came w/ 195/60/14, and I'm think about going up to a 15 or 16 rim. The plus sizing would be 195/55/15 (not much difference) or 205/45/16 (worried about wheel weight).

After my little incident w/ the RS, I decided to have the dealer swap out the tires that were on the car for some snow tires, so I'm riding on Yoko's right now. They're not bad in the snow, but suck on anything else. This is more for peace of mind than anything. Wouldn't want to take a chance and smash two cars in a year.

Sigh... i miss my scooby.

Hey Stephen! Were you at the autocross last week? I thought I saw a red Del Sol with some sweet wheels, was that you? I was too cold to walk over and find out... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

That is not the stock size for the ITR. Stock is 195/55-15. The Dunlops in a 205 look big. They are out over the wheel a little more than I had calculated. I guess that's the sizing difference between Bridgestone and Dunlop. Hopefully the added traction will outweigh any handling issues.

I wasn't worried about keeping the stock size, because the speedo in the ITR is off pretty badly. I think with a smaller diameter on it now, it might actually be closer.

And I think I have a point here somewhere... I guess it's that 205 Dunlops are pushing it width-wise on a 6 inch wide rim. So if you get some new wheels, you might look for a 15x7.

No. It was so cold I decided not to go. Having a hell of a bad cough also made the decision easier. I will try to drop by the next auto-x, but I won't be racing until i get new wheels/tires. I'm hoping the snows will last me two or three seasons if I take care of them.

I was thinking of 15x7 or 16x7 wheels. Are the ITR wheels 4-lug or 5-lug? Do you know how much they weigh? I think the del sol wheels are 14lbs. I'm hoping to find 15 or 16" wheels that are around that weight.

Any suggestions?
