View Full Version : Colorado Springs Meet?
Who's up for it? I was thinking it would be fun to get everyone together and find someplace to go grab a couple of beers and some lunch. I was thinking about a canyon run up to Divide, Cripple Creek, whatever. Let me know guys.

Tangmere 02-05-2001, 07:43 AM Well there is the ice autox this Sunday up at Rainbow Falls Park that a few Subarus will be at. Maybe we can meet there even if you don't want to compete?

bratmantlz 02-05-2001, 08:04 AM awww man.. as long as my RS is out of the shop i will be there at the ice auto cross if there is one and if there is a beer meet i mean Impreza meet i will be there. all depends on my RS getting out of the shop this friday.
tomrichardson 02-05-2001, 10:15 AM I'm in... gimme a date and a time. I may or may not be working on the Porsche and/or the Suby.
Later,
Tom
Mark -
Where is Rainbow Falls? That may be interesting. However, there is NO WAY I can compete on my Ecsta 711s. Kumho = All Wheel Skate. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif
Tom - Good to hear from you. Regarding the time and date - I was thinking sometime in late February or early March. Keep in mind that we will be meeting in the Springs area, which is a decent, if not fun, drive from your neck of the woods.

Tangmere 02-05-2001, 07:05 PM Paul,
Rainbow Falls is outside of Woodland Park, on I believe Route 67 North, go down that road approx 10 miles, sign is on your right. Turn right into the park, cross a bridge, you'll come to a T, turn left and follow the road, look for the pond, you can't miss it.
There were two Subies running RE92's, they did quite well considering. You'll be fine on 712s, and you'll gain some valuable experience on what to do if you run into that situation on the streets.
DaveK 02-05-2001, 10:01 PM One of 'em was me...but scoobies with snow tires did much better. I was really surprised to learn that I actually beat some people (er I mean the car beat some other people), because it felt like I was driving in slow motion.
Mark- do you know who we should contact to find out about changing classes for the rest of the rally-x series?
Tangmere 02-06-2001, 07:01 AM Dave,
Try threadbare402@hotmail.com name's Pete, he's the guy in charge of the Rallyx. You going to be there this weekend?
DaveK 02-06-2001, 11:38 AM Probably not, as I kind of scared myself with those tires. How often are these ice rallys held? (these are ppscc race series, not part of the coloradorally series, correct?)
Tangmere 02-06-2001, 02:13 PM I think they're run in conjuction with them. Some if not all the events count toward the Rallyx series. You can drop your worst event.
El Kabong 02-06-2001, 03:30 PM Right Dave, the PPSC runs a lot of ice races, only the one a couple weeks ago counts towards the SCCA's rallycross series. The next event for that will be on dirt in March.
Did you ever get on the mailing list?
DaveK 02-06-2001, 03:53 PM I tried to get on the coloradorally.org list, but they were having problems with their server this week. I was told that it should be back up and running later this week.
Since I'm going turbo, I'll be in open class, so...Does anybody have suggestions for 'cheap' dirt tires to use during the rally-x events?
Thanks. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif
Tangmere 02-06-2001, 04:45 PM Dave,
Since you're going to be in the open class you might as well get the best, most aggressive gravel tire allowed. Off the top of my head I'd say the Michelin L/M forest series, or Colway Rally MS in a 195/60/15 (you can order these from sales@demon-tweeks.co.uk England for about $50 each plus shipping) Another option is go to I think, www. pegasusautoracing.com and see what they recommend as to a gravel tire and throw them on a set of 15" steels. Or you can wait a few more days and ask the locals what they use.

DaveK 02-06-2001, 09:18 PM Thanks...I'm going to go check out the sites. I'll let you know what I find.
bratmantlz 02-07-2001, 05:05 AM so ice auto-x this weekend?? sunday? i am hoping to get the RS back friday http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif does anyone know if the 98 fog light plug wiring just snaps or plugs into the 99 style fog lamps http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif thanks for the info.
ImprezaRS dot com 02-07-2001, 11:11 PM I will be at JC Sports this Saturday if people wanna stop by and visit early. This Sunday is "family day" if I take Saturday for me, so the ice races are out for me...
I like Diz's idea of setting up a meet for the end of the month, but since the next SCCA autocross is 2/25 (and I'm thinking about doing it on slcik street tires), I have to spend that Saturday as family day instead. Maybe the first weekend of March for a C/S meet?

bratmantlz 02-08-2001, 05:46 AM yeah a little longer then i will be all set with my new 2000 bumper, because i want to go to this meet and chill http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lildevil.gif
So, it's looking like the first weekend of March is going to be our time. We can finalize more on the where & when as the time draws closer.
